What a great experience!
I moved to NYC a few months ago, and have been looking for a good stylist. I've always gone to scissor-over-comb stylists, but I tried a couple of barber shops first, which was a mistake. Then I found Fleischman.
I felt at ease as soon as I walked into the warm and relatively small space. I read online that they had private rooms, but that was not the case at this location (they have a few), and I actual prefer an open salon. Complimentary scotch, leather armchairs, good music -- everything was very nice.
Mysteriously, I used to have straight hair, but as soon as I turned 30 (3 years ago), it started developing this weird wave. I'd been fighting it using a blow dryer and sometimes even a straightening iron to keep my same style, but I finally decided to just try to find a stylist who could help me embrace the wave and make it look good.
I couldn't have found a better stylist for that than Anastasia! She told me my experience was actually not that uncommon, and immediately made me feel confident in her knowledge and expertise with hair of my... waviness. She actually trained as a barber, so she knew exactly what I meant when I talked to her about my displeasure with barber shops (no shampooing or conditioning, almost never any advise on style or products, macho atmosphere). She seemed genuinely excited to work on my hair and help me change up my style.
Throughout the haircut, she was super friendly, easy to talk to, and extremely knowledgeable. We discussed shampoo and conditioner frequency, styling products, and even how to properly towel dry. Then she recommended some products and showed me how I should be blow drying and shaping my hair in the morning (turns out I've been parting it wrong for like 10 years!). It had only been four weeks since my last cut, so she said she really only did a touch-up (she even reduced her price accordingly, which was very nice), but the result was still amazing. It was obvious what a skillful job she had done; my hair looked infinitely better than when I walked in!
My hair is now super quick and easy to style in the morning, and my fiance agrees that my new wavy look is on point. I'll definitely...

Never in my life had I gone to a more upscale type place to get my hair cut, I've been going to my regular barber for 10+ years now but they were no longer able to accommodate my needs with my hair and my goals for styling. I looked up several places and found Fleischman online. I wanted somewhere closer to where I normally would meet my friends up so I chose the park Avenue location. I'm familiar with the area so it'd be the natural choice too. I looked at the stylists and ultimately decided to book an appointment with Angie. The service overall was amazing, staff was doing all they could to stick to the covid 19 guidelines and it did not ever feel over crowded. The team was warm, inviting and hospitable. I arrived a few minutes early and Angie was able to seat me right away, she immediately asked about my goals, what I was looking to get out of the cut and what sort of style I would look for. She got to work right away, by rinsing and washing my hair first - a first for me. After that we went back to the chair which was not a typical barber chair and was very comfortable. She brought out the shears and began snipping away at my Quarantine locks and tamed the beast. We talked about a whole bunch of subjects during the cut and had some great laughs, the sort of great conversations I like to have at barber shops. Through out the entire cut, Angie was working with precision and profession attention to each detail and even giving recommendations for products to use in my hair. I left the shop with a renewed sense of confidence and I am happy to say that Fleischman has a new client in me and I would gladly recommend Angie to anyone looking to get a cut. Her she skill with just shears and a comb are amazing and left me feeling like I could take on the world. Thanks Fleischman and thank you...
Read moreI had my first visit at Fleischman's Salon today, and I have to say, I am genuinely impressed.
From the moment I walked in, the space had a genuinely warm and open feeling. Angie was there to politely greet me and offer me a complimentary glass of Macallan 12, which I gladly accepted. We then strolled across the beautiful dark wood floors over to a very comfortable leather club chair (complete with side table to rest my scotch on). Angie then sat down next to me and took the time to get an understanding of what I was looking for in a hair cut and what areas that she could help me with. Topics discussed, but not limited to: frequency of shampoo, conditioning, towel drying, products, styling techniques and strategies, experimentation with blow drying, and general hair health. Angie was lovely and helpful throughout. The conversation felt relaxed and I never once felt judged. I am thrilled with how much she had to teach me and then of course, the awesome job she did with my hair cut (100% scissors) and styling. She then invited me to have my hair conditioned and then proceeded me how to properly towel dry, moisten with sea salt spray, properly use a hair dryer, shape my hair, and apply product. The final result was phenomenal and educational. My wife says it is the best looking hair cut I have ever had, and I full heatedly agree. But not only was the hair cut great, the entire experience was exceptional!
