French Corner — Local services in New York

This place used to be 5 stars but is now 2 stars at best. I had been shopping here since 2015 and the customer service and access to brands has steadily declined over years. The girls that used to work there all knew me by name and even would remember what I bought. It was so nice but lately you go in there and it’s all very young girls who seem preoccupied or absorbed with anything but helping. I was trying to stay open to the boutique because it is local and not corporate but not after yesterday. Yesterday I went in to just take a quick peak and was immediately approached by a young girl who I was old enough to be her mom , and told that I am not allowed to have a coffee near the clothes. (The cup had a lid!. ) I was so taken aback because I’m used to previous girls being friends. I’m in my 40s and not irresponsible with a coffee! Anyway, I had to just smile and wish her bye. I went straight to Nordstrom with the same covered coffee and experienced no rudeness! I even told the sales people about the sales girl at French Corner and they thought it was funny. We joked about taking my receipt back into French Corner to show them I was there to spend $$$!! Big Mistake. I will never go back again. If I could give a zero star, I would. My best friend is too nice to write this bad review but I am so appalled by what she experienced today that I will never step foot in this store again. She purchased a pair of $130 leather pants two weeks ago, and after wearing them for three hours a hole appeared in the fabric. She brought back the pants with receipt and tag and politely raised this issue to store management only to be HARASSED and belittled. What a disappointment. If I owned this store I would be appalled to learn how my staff turns people around when it’s getting close to closing time. I literally walked up at 6:37pm and a short Hispanic guy said “we are closed!”. There was another attendant by the register who didn’t have a problem with his statement either.
