Also , Customer service is paramount, especially when purchasing an expensive product from a company for the first time. My Experience with Lugos Hair: A Cautionary Tale

Again, braiding your hair these days is an expensive protective style, and the boho hairstyle, popular for over a year now, requires high maintenance. Purchasing human hair from a trusted company is crucial, however my experience with Lugos hair was disheartening.

Background and Purchase

After discovering Lugos through a YouTube influencer ( Simone Sharice which btw has a braiding human hair hairline you should check out) . I decided to invest in their hair for my much anticipated holiday. Despite doing my research and communicating with a representative named Sherelle. She was pleasant when we first engaged and was quite helpful and answered all my queries however ,my experience was far from satisfactory after I received and installed my hair.

Issues with Hair Quality

Upon washing the hair, it bled excessively, staining my clothes, floors, and walls. Given my experience since 2009 with purchasing high-quality human hair, this was unacceptable especially for the price that you’re paying for. The hair also matted, tangled, and shed despite following the provided maintenance instructions.

Customer Service Experience

After getting my hair braided, I contacted Lugos to provide feedback about the hair bleeding, expecting a constructive conversation. Instead, I was met with verbal abuse and a visceral response, which I had never encountered from any hair vendor since I began purchasing raw human hair online in December 2008. Yummy Hair and Dhairboutique are raw human hair vendors that I have been purchasing from for 10 years . They also carry human braiding hair which I currently have in my new install . Very little to no shedding, matting, NO BLEEDING and extremely soft .

This is really a fantastic place, and I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a very high quality product. I am a hair stylist in Manhattan and I have been going to Tony Lugo's for 3 years now. I have visited the store and purchased hair over 50 times and am beyond satisfied every time. I sell hair extensions to clients at my own salon, and I go to Lugo's to purchase the hair. When I walk in I am greeted by a friendly receptionist. There is never a wait, I can always go right in and a friendly smiling staff is waiting to greet me and ask what I need. It is always busy yet they are so efficient and skilled at what they do that all the customers always look so happy. Everyone there is always smiling! And so professional which is very important to me because MY clients spend up to $1,000 on hair extensions and expect ONLY THE BEST. From Tony Lugo I know I can depend on that quality. I am amazed at how long the hair lasts and this is because the quality is amazing and they also explain exactly how to care for the hair so there is never any confusion as to how to properly maintain each hair texture. So I usually purchase the silky straight or the bodywave for my caucasian clients, but then my ethnic clients absolutely love the wet and wavy and the jeri curl. All the hair is human and can withstand curling iron and dyeing. THe hair lasts so long. As a hair stylist in the business of hair extensions for over 7 years, I can hoenstly say that I have tried over two dozen hair suppliers and Tony Lugos is the ONLY place that I have been a loyal repeat customer. There are so many different options. I love that they customize the color so perfectly that they can match anything. The color, the texture, the length, even the wefting options are so customized that I can always rely on the product being absolutely perfect. ANother aspect that I love about this place is that they are so dedicated to making sure that every customer is so happy. THe owner is so involved in the day to day operations and it is just such a wonderful place to go to. I love that I can depend on Tony Lugos for the amazing hair quality. I have tried so many other hair suppliers and this place is definitely my TOP choice for amazing hair and amazing...

So I waited a full 8 weeks before writing this review to test the longevity and maintenance of my gypsy braids using Lugo’s wet & wavy hair. I just took my braids down after a summer of beach, sun, fun AND a 2 week vacation in the humid yet beautiful climate of the south of France.

Here is my take-away:

1. Maintenance is hassle free IF you follow the hair care private tutorial of Sharelle, the owner. My hair was a little frizzy toward the end of my 8 week style but I like it that way.

2. Very little shedding. I mostly used my fingers to gently detangle after spritzing with a combination of water and conditioner.

3)This hair is light and soft - dry or wet - not at all like the weighted heaviness of synthetic hair.

4. Hypoallergenic! My scalp did not itch after the hair was installed. Usually, I have to wash my hair the same day after using synthetic braiding hair but this human hair just hits different!

As for Lugo’s customer service, Sharelle and her team pride themselves in ensuring that their clientele walk away extremely satisfied and educated in the maintenance of their hair. Sharelle knows her stuff! She patiently answered all of my questions. And I love that she uses the natural light outside to match your own hair color. She also oversaw the mixing of the hair and let the staff know that they had to get it right!! Additionally, hair product recommendations along with a tutorial were given. Sharelle’s hands were on every step of the process. You will have a PhD in Lugo’s Hair Care by the time you leave the shop :)

Quick tip: Get there early as the shop did start to get busy by the time that I left. This could be because Sharelle spends time with each individual client assessing their needs and overseeing the process.

This was my first time using this shop and now I’m spoiled! It’s worth every penny!! And did I say that you can reuse your hair depending on how it’s taken down?!
