I have been wearing glasses for roughly 40 years, so I have received varying levels of service over time. My eyesight is complicated: astigmatisms, severe near-nearsightedness, and now a need for tri-focal lenses. My appointment started on time. The location is very clean, well organized and the atmosphere calm and professional. I was first given a preliminary exam to set the baseline for the main exam and my old pair of glasses (which had a loose lens because of a popped string) was measured for my previous prescription. Dr. Julia Kim, is friendly, professional and asked insightful questions on how I use my vision during the day and what I was trying to achieve with my new glasses. She gave me honest advice on what Progressive lens could achieve for me and advised me to consider reading glasses as a good work-around to the limitations I experienced with my previous Progressive prescription. I then worked with a young woman at the counter to select my knew frames. Once again, the service was patient and professional since choosing frames are often about what you personal find flattering. At no time did I feel as if she was pressuring me to purchase an expensive set of frames or that she was impatient with the process. Finally, there was measuring me for how the classes would fit and using a device to ensure the lens would be constructed properly to fit where my eyes focus through a lens. This was done carefully and methodically by a gentleman named Constantine, who then took the time to explain what my insurance covered, what discount could be applied to the glasses and what costs I could be reimbursed for. And during my visit my old pair was repaired, so that I could wear them out. The store isn't large, so there isn't an immense frame selection like LensCrafters but given my eyesight I care much more about service and getting glasses that fit and perform the way I need. This was 5 star service and not the kind of attention I've received in...

It has always been a dreaded time to buy glasses. I've never gone to one store consistently. I lost my last pair and found it difficult to drive at night. So thankfully, my lovely wife booked an appointment with this store.

I arrived directly after work on a Saturday. My appointment was at 5pm and I arrived at 4:45pm two gentlemen were so kind and eager to help yet NOT pushy or trying to "upsell" me. I was made aware that the doctor was running about 20 minutes behind (no problem)

One of the workers, Constantin, also let me know that the insurance my job offers ONLY can be verified monday through friday. I was going to go into a fit of rage because I live in upstate NY and solely came to this location after work because of the appointment my wife made and the reviews. I didn't even need to reply. Constantin told me, "you know what ma'am? no worries!! you can get your eye exam, pick your frames and we will process everything on monday"

So now im excited I get to pick out my frames. WOOHOO! They had so many options and they were patient.

Okay, so I get to see the doctor about 30 minutes after my appointment. He was so worth the wait. Such a gentleman. He explained everything so well. Once we figured out the lenses that worked best for me he even had me walk around the store with my newly prescribed lenses to make sure my head didnt hurt! ((this has happen before and i thought that was normal))

IT GETS BETTER...

So my wife and I are going on vacation to Greece and I needed a pair ASAP and they offered to cut my glasses onsite in their lab. ...

I can not say enough good things about French optical and my entire experience. It was the most thorough and professional eye exam I have ever had. The optometrist took extra time to explain to me what has been changing with my vision and some ways I can be proactive to keep my eyes in good shape, I would recommend them to anyone.

Then there was the staff, so professional, knowledgeable and courteous. I communicated to them my budget and they never tried to upsell me or push anything unnecessary to me. The staff was so friendly I ended up spending extra time there just chatting and trying on way to many pairs, to which I felt a bit bad but they never showed any signs of frustration, but only seemed to want me to find a pair of specs that I would be truly happy with. Not only did I get a new pair but had my current pair updated with new lenses.

Support local business especially in NYC!!! I will go back for ever!

Thank you for being a wonderful NYC business as we are loosing all of the small shops I grew up with it is great to not have to go to a big chain and support my fellow New Yorkers!
