French Sole + Designer Brands — Local services in New York

I posted this once already, and it was mysteriously taken down the next day: If there was an option to choose 0 stars, I would do so. I recently went to the French Sole boutique and outlet for the first time. Before I bought several pairs of shoes, I asked the manager what the return policy was and she said that I could return them within 2 weeks. She did not specify that by return she meant exchange or store credit only - omitting this crucial detail. I tried wearing the shoes at home for several hours and they were very uncomfortable - so the next day I went back to the store to return them, and then I was told I could not get my money back. I called the corporate number, the same woman answered and again refused, as did her manager. She admitted that she did not specify that I could not get my money back and apologized but refused to issue the refund. You might expect this kind of poor customer service from a Dollar Store or Big Lots, but not from a high-end boutique owned by Nikki Hilton. This is just one more reason why chains like Zappos are replacing brick and mortar shops - at least they are honest about their policies, let you try on shoes at home, and make it easy to return them (for a refund). It's surprising and disappointing that French Soles is this stingy and dishonest with its customers who are paying $200+ for a pair of shoes that aren't even comfortable. I purchased a lovely pair of patent leather kitten heels with bow for over $150 several years ago. I never wore them and gave them to my sister, still boxed, when I moved. She wore them this past Christmas for first time and the heel just collapsed on her! I am very angry and just glad she was home and not out at a wedding.
