The Grand Lodge of New York Masons The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of New York (GLNY) is the largest and one of the oldest Masonic organizations in the state, tracing its history back to the Colonial era and officially organizing in 1782. Its roots are closely tied to the foundation of the United States; notably, the George Washington Inaugural Bible, owned by St. John's Lodge No. 1 (the oldest lodge under GLNY jurisdiction), was used when Washington took the oath of office in 1789. The GLNY's headquarters, located on West 23rd Street in Manhattan's Flatiron District, is a stunning landmark. The current structure, a two-part complex completed around 1913, features a blend of Beaux-Arts and Neo-Renaissance architectural styles.
The interior is the real highlight, often described as grandiose and ornate. Visitors and members can explore numerous lodge rooms, each decorated in a different historical or architectural style, such as Egyptian, Corinthian, and Gothic.
Beyond its ceremonial and fraternal activities, the GLNY is heavily focused on charity and community service. Key aspects of its mission include: Philanthropic Endeavors: The organization supports a range of charities, including the Masonic Medical Research Institute and the Masonic Care Community in Utica (a retirement and healthcare facility).
The Chancellor Robert R. Livingston Masonic Library: Located within the Hall, this library and museum is open to the public for research and features one of the world's largest collections of books and artifacts related to Freemasonry. For anyone interested in American history, secretive fraternal organizations, or beautiful Beaux-Arts architecture, the Grand Lodge of New York is a must-see landmark. The building itself is a spectacular piece of New York history, and the organization maintains a strong commitment to its founding principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth through extensive charitable work. 5/5 Stars (For Historical and Architectural...
Read moreWorship God, the One and Only, who created the heavens, the sun, the moon, the earth, and humankind. He has no son, no father, and He neither begets nor is begotten. He has one book, the Holy Quran. When you read the last page, it says, "In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Say, 'He is God, the One, God, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is begotten, nor is there to Him any equivalent.'" Return to the scholars and know that there is a God named God, the One and Only, and His Prophet and Messenger is named Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. Jesus, son of Mary, is a Prophet from God. I advise you to seek out a book called the Holy Quran in the language you desire and read it carefully. You will see that God speaks to you about everything and teaches...
Read moreI visited your building several times and felt comfortable with staff. Friendly atmosphere. This morning, the manager or the man working at the front desk on April 6th, Thursday morning around 9:15am was extremely rude. Tall Caucasian male in his late 30’s or early 40’s with prescription glasses was yelling at me because I didn’t shut the door properly. Had he approached me with calmness and clarity, I would have understood what his concern was instead of raising his voice, patronizing, having no level of patience. I hope he doesn’t treat other guests in that manner. Not...
