This experience ruined the entire integrity of my hair. When one is paying for a service that is at the upper end of the market rate , you expect a certain end product and my experience with Lauren (Color Director) fell severely short of expectations. I am not one to ever write reviews and do not want to affect the business/make judgements on the overall competence of a stylist, but as a client myself who is deeply unsettled by this, potential clients seeking highlights have a right to be informed.

I showed Lauren 5-6 reference photos of a cooler toned caramel look on brunette hair using either a foilage/babylights technique - I wanted the highlights to be naturally dispersed/softly blended and Lauren assured me she was comfortable doing this. As I usually do with other stylists, bleach + toner process was used. The end result was however, big streaky pieces where the color was totally off - it looked like a yellow tinged blonde/ overgrown dye job and some parts were extremely grey ash like which washed me out (quite a feat considering I am an olive skin tone). Secondly, I payed $520 dollars for essentially even less than a partial highlight (stopped above my ears, concentrated around crown) when I had initially chosen a full highlight (initially quoted at $350). Midway through, when i noticed that the foils were only in the upper half of my hair, I expressed concerns as i I knew it would not look well blended with the bottom half of my hair which was a dark brown - Lauren dismissed these concerns, saying that it would turn out ok and I did not persist. It looked like an amateur had done it. Thirdly, I usually do this exact service annually and look after my hair with masks/olaplex so my hair is never affected by bleach. However the amount of hairfall I have experienced after this has been unprecedented - my hair is brittle and looks fried. On the price front, I had to pay almost $200 more than originally quoted, (told later that billing was on an hourly basis) and did not even get a proper blowdry which is rare in the city post a color service. One of the best, if not the best, salon experiences I've ever had. I got a phenomenal cut from Victor, who is kind, thoughtful, & talented. One of the things that really struck me was how throughout the cut he continually checked in with me to see if I liked what he was doing, as well as explaining why he was doing what he was doing - this seems to be a salon wide ethos, because I overheard the stylist next to us doing the same thing, and it really set such a wonderful tone for the experience. I have a short cut, so often I feel like my cuts are rushed, so it was really nice to feel like Victor was really paying attention to every detail.
