Stay away from all mount sinai hospitals wherever they are You want to live and you want to get well and have doctors who can help you and ESP IF YOU NEED SURGERY DO NOT GO TO ANY MOUNT SINAI HOSPITALS * I can not believe how lazy how horrible how uneducated inexperienced these doctors are ok maybe 99% of the doctors are horrible and 1% are not but do you want to play Russian roulette with your life and bet you will get that 1% doctor? Not me and I had nothing but bad experiences every time I stepped into a mount sinai hospital caught Covid caught CDif then had a doctor damage a main artery in my arm where they diagnosed me with wrong thing then had a nurse do a test with sunglasses on bc she didn’t want anyone to see a eye stye she had like one horrible horrifying experience after another all at different times so I’ve learned to stay the heck out of there & almost forgot how security hovers over you wants to know why your there for what what’s the issue since when you have to tell your personal private business to a security guard hell no absolutely not that should be private they should mind their own business!!!I The worst part is they actually walk around the emergency rooms and look into the curtains your in like that’s illegal it’s invading your privacy that’s like a prison watch or something they want to talk about how you have your HIPPA rights of privacy so why these guards act like they have it like that they can just disregard that? They give them to much authority over your privacy unless they do not even know this is going on and I mean in every mount Sinai! Now you have homeless people just going in there to lounge and watch tv I have seen it over and over again they pretend something is wrong just to lounge with their shoes off and lay on the love seat type chairs they have this is mostly in the mount Sinai over at 57 st and 10 th Ave one … so this one when I had my slip and fall and hurt my neck and my back they never even bothered to take an mri or catscan and I was in a lot of pain back in 2019 I had to have an ambulance take me to the hospital had neck brace I was in bad shape they did not help me at all had to go to other doctors to tell me why didn’t they do a mri or catscan only a cray they didn’t they just couldn’t understand they was a surprised why a hospital with a back and neck injury did not do these tests so help me more. This is why I do not go to this hospital for anything wouldn’t take a animal there if they was in serious need they probably hurt them more they are horrible and I’m not fabricating anything only telling you my experience they just gave me some Advil said have a good day like later on found out I hurt myself bad and since then went thru 3 surgeries all together my back my neck and my knee and they would of seen the damage if they just did their job but nope they didn’t do anything in my back only go to Lenox hill now plus mount Sinai has horrible food and Lenox hill you can order anything if they don’t have it they will make it for you anything from a cheeseburger to a hotdog they have it in the kitchen cooked or not they will make it for you also they have some of the best doctors from around the world there I mean some of the BEST and the nurses are all very educated very reputable and they have alot of patience and very understanding and sympathetic go to mt Sinai your gonna nurses that just want to hurry up and get you in and out a few times I went with my daughter they never had a Dr even check her they just took an xray and said your fine good bye doctors didn’t want to take the time to even come speak to us smh but definitely charged us as if he did just this place is bad it’s just beyond bad I wouldn’t say don’t bother with them esp if someone needs medical care also my friend had knee surgery there and they lost all his paper work chart everything claimed he was never there yet I was with him in the emergency room and when he got admitted so they just horrible please trust me … Lenox hill is the best chance for a healthy recovery!!! Good...
Read morewant to preface this by saying i don’t EVER review anywhere. I just left this locations ER, I have been to Mt sinai twice in my life, once when I was 13 and today as a 20 yo woman. both visits were the most useless visits i’ve ever had with a doctor. I went in asking if I was able to have a pelvic ultrasound done before I even got admitted or had my vitals taken. I was told yes I could have the exam done. I waited three hours to be seen by a PA/doctor, before being seen I asked again if I was able to have an ultrasound done, I was told that the ultrasound machines are reserved for life threatening cases which I understood, I informed everyone I spoke to that I needed an ultrasound. it didn’t matter if they needed to take it away from me because someone else needed it. I was told that if no one was in need then I could have the ultrasound done. This PA did an exam which concluded to her telling me everything I had already explained to her. I informed her that I have had an exam already. What did she conclude? EVERYTHING I ALREADY TOLD HER. I informed her that my PCP/GYN needs me to do a ultrasound due to the risk of it being embedded in my uterine wall as she has already attempted to remove it and was met with resistance (which is not supposed to happen) THIS IS NOT SOMETHING TO BE TAKEN LIGHTLY AS A YOUNG WOMAN. After the exam I asked her if she could inform her attending about my concerns. she said she would tell him in full detail.
oh and here’s the kicker. I asked her after the exam (I did one on myself after she left the room) how many strings she felt when she examined me, she said two. Guess how many i’ve felt since I got it placed. it’s not two. it’s one.
After this the attending came into the room and said that I need to see my GYN and the only thing he could do for me was get a referral for me to make an appointment, IF I COULD I WOULD. I HAVE NEVER been hospitalized in my teen to adult years. I do not show up to the ER to wait for five hours for fun.
again. he told me to make an appointment.
when I needed an MRI two months ago for migraines, they set me up for an appointment in feb of 2025…
Here’s another kick, I told EVERYONE meaning: check in, vitals, evaluation front desk, the person who made my chart, the nurse, THE PA, the DOCTOR. E V E R Y O N E. about what I needed. If ultrasounds are only available until 11pm… and are in reserve… and you can’t use them… and staff should be aware of that… then why didn’t anyone turn me away. WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME NO. WHY DIDNT ANYONE DIRECT ME TO ELSEWHERE. I called front desk, I got transferred. they hung up. I WASTED 5 HRS WHY WOULD YOU TELL ME I COULD GET THE TEST DONE IF NO ONE WAS IN NEED. they were AWARE that I had no where else to go at the moment for an ultrasound, I HAVE TRIED.
to remind you. there is a risk of my IUD being embedded in my uterine wall. a situation that would require surgery.
to have a man look you in your face and tell you that your situation is not an emergency and that I do not need an ultrasound for my uterus as a young woman after being told that I am AT RISK if I do not fix this as soon as I can is RIDICULOUS.
I wasn’t asking for special treatment, I wasn’t rude, I wasn’t mean, I wasn’t disrespectful. I was asking for another exam for an issue THEY WERE AWARE OF.
I ended up having a panic attack (I already informed everyone that I was feeling anxious and needed help as soon as possible) , I was helped by a woman who didn’t even work on the ER floor, she came into work with her bags on and saw me hyperventilating and crying and hugged me until I could breath properly. THIS IS THE ONLY ACTUAL HELP I RECEIVED AT THIS HOSPITAL AND IT WAS BASIC HUMAN DECENCY.
After this two doctors attempted to talk to the attending to see if I can get the ultrasound done. again he said no, that I am not in need of an ultrasound and that the ultrasound is reserved for patients who are POTENTIALLY in danger.
I will not be returning and will not be using that stupid referral. I was dumb to think these people would care...
Read moreI posted the review below 4 weeks ago. A negative review triggers an autoreply from the hospital, seemingly inviting a dialog. It's fake! Nobody got in touch.
On March 31, 2025, I went to the ER of Mt. Sinai West. I was admitted because of my excruciating pain in my back and leg. I pleaded for pain relief, but I had to keep waiting. When it finally came, it quickly lost impact.
An MRI was necessary to guide further treatment. I insisted on more effective pain treatment before I could take it. I was still whisked away for an MRI against my protests. Much time was wasted waiting in line for the MRI, which failed. Almost an hour was then wasted waiting in agony for transport back to the ER.
I was in despair, crying uncontrollably and moaning “I want to die!” over and over. That was no melodrama--it was actually how I felt. The nurse offered her sympathy, and some more pain relief was administered, but the relief was short-lived.
The ER was cramped, and I was about one foot away from another patient behind a screen. Zero privacy. We were very close to an alarmed door that let out a piercing sound every time somebody opened it. Sleeping for the first 22 hours was impossible.
Then I was transferred to Medicine department 14A. The receiving department nurse was clearly disgruntled and kept arguing with another staff. Nobody introduced themselves or said “welcome.". Dumped and left, I could not find the call button unless I reached over, high on my painful side. At great pain I crawled up and pushed the button (or not? I could not reach my glasses). After several attempts somebody said: “How can I help you.” I pleaded for pain relief and got an inaudible response. Click.
An annoying, persistent alarm from my drip went off. The same for my roommate. It drove me crazy. I tried calling again. No reply. A nurse finally appeared and fixed it. I asked what triggered it. She mumbled and I had to ask again. Clearly annoyed, she responded through clenched teeth. Such was the attitude with which I was met.
My vitals were frequently checked. My blood pressure was through the roof. Two ladies collecting vitals data chatted about kids. I tried to plead for more pain relief, but they ignored me. I slapped my hand against the side of the bed in frustration to get their attention. “I’ll call security” one of them yelled at me and then continued chatting. Such was the compassion with which I was met.
Things finally improved as I kept complaining about pain relief. In the morning, I even got a nurse (Emily) who (a) introduced herself by name on arrival, (b) spoke clearly and looked at me when we talked, (c) carried a readable name tag, (d) asked how I was feeling, (e) took me seriously and tried to cheer me up, and (f) even asked how to pronounce my unusual name! Mt. Sinai might consider this exceptional kind of behavior to be part of staff training so that it becomes standard. But I may be unreasonable, given how little they charge.
The appearance, in late afternoon on April 1, of a qualified pain management team of two doctors made a great deal of difference. Finally, I was taken seriously. I got the relief I needed for a late-night MRI, administered by cheerful, professional staff. A herniated disc was diagnosed on April 2.
I also got a new bed that I could actually maneuver. The first one was locked in a half-raised position which was not the most comfortable.
Things improved even further as I collaborated with a physical therapist (Sam) who was a great listener and provided systematic coaching. We exercised, with initially depressing results. But with better pain management, the road to mobility and recovery opened up. A friendly social worker (Allyson) checked that I had somewhere to go.
I left the hospital on April 3 with a battery of medications and a reasonable chance of full physical recovery in the coming weeks through physical therapy and perhaps injections or surgery. But the mental scars of the unforgettable agonizing pain, and the rudeness and indifference that I suffered will take...
