Skybaby Medspa — Local services in New York

My first time visit to try and do one color Deluxe Japanese Style gel manicure with Mia. Interior inside the salon is pretty but for the services is very disappointed I expect it’s great like the people leave the reviews. I did gel removal she just file off everything with machine not soaking them off. It surprisingly for me. Bc I had Softgel on not Hardgel. The result my nails after done is not smooth some part is bulky. Without any words from her she just telling me the price for removal and start work on it. She is just work without any words (just once she ask cut short? And that’s it!! Not asking me am I like it? Or anything.) NOPE!! Not even asking me to check, I really don’t like the shape (so uneven, some is oval, some round some is almond) so I ask couple times to fix the shape. But she gave me a face like I’m annoying so I stop asking to fix them anymore. Even when she want to start the gel she not even ask me at all to checking make sure I’m satisfied. Not good cuticle care works. Still have hard skin around the nail and no neat!! In the service menu said Japanese style gel manicure but I didn’t get it where is the Japanese style? Even the product isn’t Japanese brand. I just get 1layer base coat, color, and 1 layer top coat. Not much different with regular nail salon. And it cost $65 for one color gel (no include removal). Mia finish my nails for gel removal and one color gel manicure in 50 minutes. She is very fast but not a good work results. It’s a NO for me to this place not coming back for twice...

I’ve been to Skybaby three times for my nails and have been so pleased by the results all three times. Service was great, scheduling is easy through their website or WeChat, restroom and work area were clean as well. I had Mia do my nails two of these three times, and honestly Mia is one of the best technicians I’ve ever had in New York. She can be a bit introverted at first but she’s patient and allows a lot of creative input from me (and I have some very specific requests lol). I can tell that she’s very artistic herself because she can understand my vision but still add some touches that make the results even better than I had expected. The mermaid nails attached is the most beautiful set of nails I’ve ever done, in full transparency it did take us 3 hours, but she made zero mistakes despite the complexity of the set. Only downside of Skybaby would be the price as they are slightly more expensive than some other studios, but honestly for the quality of service I can’t complain. Very disappointing service. Place was completely closed for my appointment, I had to call a few times until someone answered and rushed to open the place after 15 minutes of me waiting outside. Mia was 30 minutes late and never apologized, requesting a tip at the end. I had to come for a touch up since nails were looking horrible just less than a week after. Place was left dirt from the day before (see pic) tons of hairs on the floor, dirty and messy desks. Makes me wonder how clean and sterile their tools actually are. I was promised by Jiwon a free manicure as a compensation if I delete the previous bad review I wrote. I wanted to give this place a try so I agreed. Since November 12 I’ve been trying to schedule my free manicure only to finally get an answer back today saying it’s been too long since they offered it so they can’t do it. Honestly don’t come here.
