I was recently in Long Island City. My daughter ran the 26.2 k marathon. However, I looked for a latin restaurant late at night close to the hotel. I stayed at The Aloft. I was glad to see a Mexican restaurant open before midnight and I went there with my wife because we were so hungry. To start with we were seated by a lady that kept grabbing her private part only to ask us If she can be excused because she needed to desperately use the bathroom so what are we going to say "of course use the restroom." When she got back we were ready to order. My wife ordered her go to Mexican dish some Birria Tacos and I ordered my go to Mexican dish the red sauce Enchiladas. I took one bite out of my dish and it was definitely not the dish I'm used to eating at any Mexican restaurant I have ever been to across the world. And my wife only ate her tacos because she was so hungry. I returned my dish after only one bite. The waitress did not offer any solution as she only took the plate from the table and dumped it in the trash. What a disappointment! At the end we asked for our bill and I am not looking for any hand outs but she actually tried to charge me the plate that I did not even eat and when I asked her to remove the plate off my bill she looked at me with attitude and said she had to make a call to someone. My wife got agitated and asked her to simply remove the plate that I did not consume so that we can pay and go after waiting like 15 minutes for some kind of solution. We will never recommend this place for authentic...
Read moreWell I hate leaving reviews like this. But the public should know how poorly these people handle their customers. Long story short: I did pickup a couple weeks ago (ordered through Seamless). When I got there, I asked if they prefer me to order via phone, since they'll get more $$ and perhaps it would be faster. They said absolutely. So today I called up, asked for delivery. The atrociously rude woman on the phone was barely listening...I had to repeat my number and name, and then when the address came, I told her. She had me repeat it 3 times. And then she said "Are you SURE that's your address?" and I said, "Am I sure that's my address? Yes, very sure." And then she went ballistic. "If you're going to take that attitude, then I'm not taking this order!!" I tried to interject but at that point she was on a rant and couldn't be stopped. She repeated over and over again IF YOU'RE GONNA HAVE AN ATTITUDE... etc etc. What attitude? She was 1) barely listening, 2) asking me if my address was real, and 3) now yelling at me. Insanity. For management: I spoke to this woman today, May 7th at 1:10PM....Fire her immediately. This was disgusting treatment. If who was I spoke with WAS the manager, then godspeed to you. I will be telling our tight-knit community what a disaster you are. There's too many good Mexican options in our city to go to an...
Read moreOrdered 3 rounds of negro modelo during my time there. In the mean time also placed an order for 3 tacos. A carnitas, shrimp, and chorizo taco. Instead of a carnitas taco the waitress got confused and gave me a carne enchilada taco. Regardless, all 3 tacos were flavorful and good. She did me a favor with the carne enchilada taco (Spiced pork). It was really good and it tasted like the Al pastor taco. I suspected she was wrong instead me being the one who placed the order incorrectly. I later brought it up and she saw that on the receipt she had been mistaken because the order was printed in the order I asked for it. I ordered a carnitas taco a second time even though it was wrong on paper and it wasn’t that good. Skip the Carnitas Taco.
The crown jewel was the shrimp taco, it was breaded. Flavorful, plentiful. And over all enjoyable. I was blown away. It reminded me of the fish tacos I tried in playa de Carmen in Mexico, only that it was all shrimp. It stole the show. At the end of it all I was happy with the order. Good food and good service from the waitress. Will be...
