The overall concept of this place seems fun but I am leaving a 1 star because my concerns were not taken serious of the moment my ear was pierced.
I came to get my second loop re-pierced and it has been a long time since I first had it done, so I was a little nervous. Once it was pierced I questioned whether if the earring post was too short and if it was a little too tight/snug. I felt it didn’t have much room to heal. The piercer said she didn’t know what I mean by “too tight.” Also informed me that all their piercing jewelry is meant to give enough room to heal. I didn’t question too much after that but it had left a bad taste in my mouth because the whole “I don’t know what you mean by too tight” part felt condescending in a way. But I am not a professional so what do I know right?
Here comes 2 weeks later and my ear is still swollen and bleeding! I’ve cleaned it with saline spray twice a day and had it dry completely after. Nothing worked. Since I can’t see the back of my ear I didn’t realize how badly my skin was hurting from the short post. My skin was embedding. It seems that I am not the only person experiencing this after getting ears pierced at Studs.
The skin from behind my ear was being slowly cut by the flatback. Since the post wasn’t long enough, there wasn’t much room left to heal! The flatback was slowly inching and digging slanted into the piercing hole cutting it little by little every day. This was initially my first concern since I felt that it was too tight to begin with since the post was so short.
Anyways, I reached out to Studs and was given a refund as well as go in for a follow up. I denied the follow up since the damage had already been done and I took the earring out myself after having so much pain and to be honest, there was nothing they can actually do other then take it out anyway. Once I removed it, I noticed my re-piercing hole was done much higher than my original hole (as you can see from my picture). I didn’t see this on the day of because the front part of the earring was completely covering it. Now I have so many scars on one ear which obviously isn’t nice to look at and I am traumatized from this experience.
I am leaving this review because I want people to be aware of this issue and please listen to the little voices inside your head instead of pushing your questions or concerns aside. I just wished my concerns were met at the first place so this whole thing wouldn’t have happened.
Studs, please train your staff and understand that everyone have different ears loop sizes, so please understand that some people need a much...
Read moreMy friend and I got our ears pierced at Hudson Yards Studs last week. Overall the experience was fun, and our piercer made us feel comfortable. We liked her attitude and technique, and our piercings are doing fine so far. That said, they really could improve attention to detail/communication between the front desk and the piercers. My friend and I each picked out our earrings at the front and showed the guy there what we wanted. He told our piercer, and we went back to the room to meet her there. When my friend (who bravely went first) was done, she showed me her ears, and I was like -- looks great, but those aren't the earrings you wanted, they're the ones I wanted! The piercer offered to switch them out for her preferred choice, but my friend didn't want any more ear action because of the pain so she just decided to accept them. I asked to see the ones my friend had chosen to see if we'd just make a swap, so the piercer showed me -- and it turned out they weren't even the correct ones that she had picked! (Pave vs. plain gold.) So, I told the piercer to please go with my original choice and she did my piercing. When we got up to the front to pay, I realized she'd actually put the mini version in instead of the small version, though the shape was the same. Not a big deal ultimately -- but it just felt very chaotic that we each selected an earring very clearly and then neither of us actually got that one in our ears. As for aftercare instructions, it was also a little chaotic -- my piercing was actually considered a "reinsertion" because I'd had the spot pierced 30 years ago. The piercer told me that I wouldn't need any aftercare at all; just leave the earrings in for 2 weeks. My friend got a huge amount of instructions for her new piercing. Still seems strange to me that there were no instructions for a hole that was being reopened after 30 years! I'd recommend Studs due to the piercer's friendly attitude and professional work, but pay close attention to make sure you're getting what you want, cause it...
Read moreI wasn't planning on getting a new piercing, but I saw this piercing studio passing through the Hudson Yards and checked the place out with a friend.
From what I remember, 1 piercing is $35 and 2 piercings is $50, but they have more options for several. Jewelry ranges from $35-80+ and they have titanium ones!
My experience was very pleasant! I asked the two front-desk people about the prices and they were extremely welcoming and friendly. They helped me choose a moon and star stud for my stacked piercing to match my current earring style, which I absolutely love. It was very quick to just walk in and fill in the waiver form. They also had a student discount for 10% off! I chose to get a diagonal stacked piercing above my current earring and the price had went from $130 to $115.
I got pierced by Alyssa and they were very kind and patient! We had spent some time making sure the piercings were even and they were very patient and also wanted to get it perfect.
There is also a service included when you get pierced where you can downsize the post after some time of healing if you just visit the store again, which is great! They offer aftercare packages and had also given me a little pamphlet with some stickers and a card receipt. The whole experience is very well-thought out and all the staff have been great!
Absolutely amazing place and I will 100% be revisiting for...
