ETA - To the response; I never said it was a great haircut. And it was your shops fault (Emma) for the tip issue and for changing the stylist, NOT the call center.
Truly just a disappointing experience with Rudys as a whole right now. The hair cut was good BUT .. I called three days prior, made the appointment as a gift, spoke with the call center, made sure everything was going to be taken care of as this was for my mother and I am not in the state. The girl in the call center was nice, listened to all my stuff, and put the appointment in, and I gave my card number for the deposit. She told me it would be with Hana and she assured me she was great at short cuts. Called an hour later, spoke with the same girl, since I made the appointment for the wrong day, got it pushed out. Okay, done, great. Same time, same person, different day, great. Yesterday, I called again trying to talk to the shop directly, the call center tried twice, the shop never picked up. Today I called, was again sent through the call center twice; second time the shop answered. I spoke to Emma, I told her my mother was coming in, I wanted to make sure everything was set so she didn't have to stress about anything. I asked when they ran my card to put a $20 tip on it. Again, a $20 tip for the haircut, I never bothered to ask about the hair cut price since I didn't care. Emma said they don't run the card until the cut is done; that's fine, just add the $20 tip. I tell my mother it's all taken care of, including the tip, so she didn't have to deal with it. I spoke with Emma at 11am; my mother's appointment was at 1pm. So my mother goes. She writes me after. The appointment was not with Hana, it was with Iza (?). She said the cut was good, but she said there wasn't a tip left so she put $5 on my card. I immediately call the center again and they transfer me to the store. Emma answers. I tell her first that the appointment was with someone else than who it was supposed to be, she tells me she came in this morning and that was already the name on the books. She told my mother that SHE changed the name. Two stories. Okay. Then I ask about the tip, and Emma says, well there wasn't a tip. I said I called earlier, and she says , Yea I spoke with you but lots of people call. I was floored, I said you didn't make a note? Emma says oh we don't do notes. Okay, well now I'm beyond annoyed about the whole process and the back and forth. She says well we can comp your next haircut. I told her that wasn't the point, I wanted a stressless haircut for my mother who's going into surgery tomorrow, and they changed the stylist, and they didn't have the tip even though it was Emma I spoke to. And then I asked, where's the note going to go for the comp haircut? She started stuttering. Come on guys. I work in customer service. Write down a note; I was trying to give you more money. Absolutely ridiculous. And to top it all off, my mother used to go to the original Cap Hill location when it opened, she's gone to the one in Bellevue. This was a disaster. And sure, she might be okay with the haircut, but that's not who was supposed to do it that I made sure was going...
Read moreWas a little hesitant with all the mediocre to negative reviews, but I had a great experience. I had been paying 25$ at Hill's Barbershop two blocks up, but was routinely dissatisfied with the experience. Thought I'd give this place a try.
The service was excellent. There were two ladies up front, one running the register and the other checking people in. It was surprisingly busy for 9:20 on a Saturday morning, but as a walk-in I was told about a 20 min wait and was in the chair in less than 15 despite 3 people waiting in front of me (there were 6 stylists on duty).
Great hair cut. I had Katelynn. Told her I was former military, used to a Flow-bee buzz cut, but had let it grow out a bit because I was hoping to start wearing it like an adult. Nothing too wild, something I could comb and look neat, but also style a little. She asked a couple questions and then proceeded to give me the best haircut of my life. The care she showed was something I'd never seen before. When she said she was going to texture it for me, she actually cut rows at a slight angle, taking her time to get the detail just perfect. She also said she tapered in the neckline a bit so it will stay even longer as it grows in, which is always a problem for me since my hair grows so fast (I didn't mention that to her, she just looked at my hair and knew). I've never had someone approach a high fade with a little on top with such care and attention, but she also worked fast, so I didn't feel like I was sitting there all day.
The "short hair" cut costs $32, and included a shampoo in the back, and her showing me how to put product in it and styling it for me afterwards, all in less 40 mins from the time I walked in the door. My hair looks great, and I left her a good tip. All told $40 for a better haircut and VASTLY SUPERIOR haircutting experience for what I was getting for $30 at Hill's. Totally worth a little extra cash.
Customer service was great from beginning to end, and I will definitely be coming back with an appointment with Katelynn in a few weeks. I used to be a Great Clips guy, with a coupon, getting my hair cuts for $12 - $15 including tips. In Redmond, a buzz cut most places will run you $20 - $25 ($15 here).
Do yourself a favor, spend the extra couple dollars, it was totally worth it to learn the difference between a hair cut and a...
Read moreI don’t usually get my hair cut, and my social anxiety makes places like salons and barbers really difficult. The receptionist was really kind and respectful towards my anxiety accommodations and helped me book an appointment at a slower time without feeling belittled or shamed. When I told Danielle, the hairstylist, I was looking for something gender neutral because I’m gender-fluid, she immediately switched over to they/them pronouns and made me feel really accepted without it being A Thing. She listened thoroughly to me ramble my ideas, worries, concerns, and references and I felt heard and again respected in my choices (I was cutting a lot off, going from a traditionally femme look to a more neutral one). She repeated them back to me so we both we on the same page (and I think honestly a little to reassure me too, I was flustered and didn’t know the terminology/how to convey what I wanted and anxious), and then she gave me steps of our process which really helped ease me. She never made me feel awkward for not talking at points, and was always very friendly when I did talk. I impulsively cut my hair, and ruined the work Danielle did. It was so bad I had to go back and request for her to fix/salvage it. Again, I received no shame or guilt for what I had done. We just moved on and while it was shorter than I was comfortable with, that was wholly my fault and beyond that my new cut also looked great and I was happy. I told her I needed to hear her say not to cut my hair because I would go home and cut my hair impulsively again, but if I had her reassurance to not do that then I could logically walk myself out of it; and instead of judging my weird request or laughing it off, she (again) took it seriously and honored my request, helping me greatly with this impulse since. I don’t think I’ll go somewhere else for my hair. Every time I go in, Danielle gets noticeably better at understanding me: what I’m trying to convey, what the specific language I’m using means, my likes and dislikes I cut off like 1.5ft and had a very loose/multiple idea/s of the style I wanted moving forward and Danielle has not only been incredibly patience with me in this regard, but also helped in narrow it down with her expertise.
