Magical and worthy of a review. Upon entering the store had that Harry Potter wand shop vibe. The place was uniquely set up and I was intrigued immediately. The lovely worker at the register kindly bid me hello and welcomed me warmly into the shop. As I started to make my rounds I noticed an array of real, crafted wands. When I say real, they are fully carved wooden instruments of magic per se. Curious and a bit skeptical I made my way towards the shop's worker and asked her to explain how to determine the different wands. She would look exactly as I would imagine a goodly witch to be. She spoke with such eloquence and rhyme; you couldn't help but feel safe and relaxed around her. I was informed that all the wands here were actually constructed on location by an array of vested artisans like herself. She explained that if, perhaps I was a teacher then one kind of wand would suffice for the teacher's needs. She then moved to another one and stated if the teacher was also a writer and needed elements of creativity to choose another kind of wand, then the one she held would do the trick. I looked a little more around and my girlfriend beckoned me to leave. So we did.
After moving around Salem's other stores I oddly found myself back at the front of the store. My girlfriend had a quick errand she needed to take care of back at the hotel, so I told her I'd meet her a little later. Upon parting I couldn't help but return inside the store. The elder artisan was awaiting me behind the register. Without preamble I walked towards her and asked, if I chose to purchase a wand, how might I actually use it. She smiled and explained to me it wasn't about some grand presentation or brandishing/flourishing the wand about as if I was concocting an incantation. No, she explained the soul resided within the area of the diaphragm and like praying, should I wish to pass good vibes, happiness, or luck towards someone or something to hold it with the long end of the wand out so that my energy may seek out that which I'm focused on. Likewise, turning it around can allow me seek or absorb the same kind of energy should I need it. Or pull the negative energy out of the room and letting it flow through the wand into me and out, down through the floor.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time and instruction there and ended up buying a wand. After all, every teacher and writer needs a sort of inspiration or talisman to help with writer's block or coming up with unique ways to educate their kiddos. Oh, and in case you didn't clue in to it, I'm both. Before you assume or even ask, no I didn't share that piece of tidbit with the artisan behind the register. She just seemed to gravitate towards that example. Coincidence? No idea, but I did get the wand in which she pointed towards. It was a wand of...

Read moreIt hard to explain the level of shock that follows learning that Massachusetts' Salem has their own Magic Wand store. Fully designed to resembled Ollivander's Wands, walking into this store is like teleporting out of the United States and into the fantastical world of the J.Rowling's Harry Potter. It is a parent that the wands that are sold here, to which are many, are not of copyright design from books or movies. They, however, appear to be handmade, fantastically designed, and masterly crafted. As the shop isn't big you so you might find yourself in a line, waiting just to get into the shop. The lines don't take long, plus it ensures that the staff can give everyone attention and the shop could keep order, all good points. The pricing appeared to be decent if not a little bit on the pricey side for a few of the more expensive items. In all most of the items where without a...
