WARNING!!! They will abandon their patience 5 days post op because they failed to check their voicemail and then gaslight you into thinking itâs your fault!!!
Dr. Holy is my husbandâs specialist and has been absolutely wonderful. His issue has been quite complicated and has required (3) surgeries to the same eye to fix the issue. We have consulted with (3) other physicianâs within the practice (Chica, Wein, & Lane) due to scheduling conflicts with Dr. Holy and they were all equally as wonderful.
HOWEVER, and this is a BIG HOWEVER, if you are in a financial hardship, this is NOT the office to work with. Their staff in charge of collecting money (Stephanie, Jesse, Barbara, and Dina) will consistently threaten to discontinue care and/or necessary serious surgeries, should you not be able to pay an estimated amount or if you follow instructions provided regarding payment plans! I was advised by Dina Alonzo, that if I needed to change the date of my payment arrangement, that I just needed to provide atleast 1 days notice; I called on 8/19, regarding a payment that was scheduled to be deducted on 8/25 and requested that the date change to 8/23 and this was not done. Now, less than a week post op, for my husband, we are being told either we pay up in full before my husbandâs 1 week post op appointment on this coming Tuesday, 9/3 before1:45 pm or my husband canât be seen! Their staff had an entire week to call me to work this out, but when did the call? Friday afternoon at 3:47 pm; I missed their call and immediately emailed them. When did I get their response with their threat to discontinue my husbandâs care? Friday at 6:00 pm. Shameful!
The ambulatory center, that they work with, refers to their office as âone of their pickierâ offices that they work with in reference to collecting money upfront, as well. They were going to cancel my husbandâs 2nd (and 3rd) surgery over an estimated amount that they REQUIRED us to pay, despite the fact that our deductible had already been met. A surgery that my husband NEEDED to have as he was at risk of losing his vision completely. If you have great insurance and savings, this office is great. If you donât, go somewhere else. They will treat you like youâre...
Read moreI was referred here for a closer exam of my retina. It was a quick process of examining and photographing both eyesâvery professional. The doctor said I needed a laser treatment for a small repair. The doctor had his very nice assistant apply drops to my eye and had me wait less than five minutes in the waiting area. I was then escorted to a room where the laser procedure took less than five minutes. I checked out at the front desk after making a follow up appointment.
I arrived for the follow up and checked in. I was informed I had a balance of over $600, not including my regular co-pay. I was surprised, as not one staff member mentioned any charges before the procedure, nor had anyone contacted me since the last appointment. It seems the $600+ was my remaining balance for the procedure after insurance paid out. My extreme annoyance is not necessarily the cost . . . rather the failure of any staff member to present me with the information of the cost before whisking me through it. I do not like surprises, especially when it comes to finances. I asked for an itemized bill and to have someone from Billing contact me the next day after 10am. Strangely enough, they called me in the middle of my follow up exam, so I couldnât answer. Overall, the procedure went well. Unfortunately, itâs my opinion that their administrative process lacks clarity and transparency. No specialist should perform a procedure (especially when theyâre that expensive) before disclosing the cost to the patient.
I will not be returning. Theyâre likely not going to be phased by this, as the doctor is supposedly retiring in a few...
Read moreDr. Sarah Holy is an incredible retina specialist - She has repaired two retinal detachments on my eyes now, and I have to say I couldn't be more satisfied. I had about 5% vision remaining in my right eye - she repaired it with 100% vision restoration. Seven years later my left retina started tearing away - in recovery now with full vision restored. She accepts insurance, Medicare, and cash patients (she even took cash PAYMENTS from me 7 years ago) - and her prices are seriously low (In my opinion). Her staff is very helpful, knowledgeable and kind. Best doctor I've ever met-truly. Picture is not the surface of Mars, it is my right eye after multiple laser treatments (photocoagulation) and vitrectomy. And yes - perfect 20/20 vision through all...
