Vero Kherian Photography — Local services in San Francisco

I have now been using Vero as my primary headshot and promotional materials photographer for close to seven years, and while I've been shot by several other photographers throughout that time as a result of logistical constraints, Vero remains, bar none, the very best of them all. Although I now live all the way across the country in Philadelphia, I recently made the investment to travel back to San Francisco to meet with her for another shoot - and she has yet again exceeded my expectations and proven herself thoroughly worth every penny.

What I most appreciate about Vero's style is that there is absolutely no pretense or rigidity in how she shoots; although she'll give you clear direction, such as "Move your hands this way," or "Turn slightly to the left," there's nothing cookie-cutter about the way that she takes your pictures, and all of the poses that she recommends feel natural and not superficial. It feels like a friend joining you in play as you try different movements, rather than a businesslike transaction that strives for a specific look. To that end, whereas other photographers have a certain style or signature pose that they use in all of their shoots, Vero looks through the lens to see you and highlight you at your very best. I also appreciate the way that none of her final shots are overly retouched - each photo reads as though you woke up that day looking absolutely gorgeous. She truly sees each subject as beautiful, and she makes you feel that way throughout the entire interaction, from discovery call to final photo delivery.

Generally, when we think of having a portrait taken, we imagine ourselves in our best clothes, with perfect makeup, in beautiful, flattering light that shows our features and expressions to greatest advantage. Though photographer Vero Kherian does invest all of the portraits she creates with the technical skill and visual qualities I've mentioned above, there is a 'something else' above and beyond the usual requirements to her work. A hint of revelation, perhaps, a glimpse of something unique in each individual. A 'seeing' of something more intrinsic in each person that she photographs. You can sense it in the quiet, intense way that she works to arrange you in her studio. In the way that she looks at the way your are dressed and, perhaps asks for a different color, a different look, a brighter or more subtle hue. You can feel her looking- searching for what rings most true to her subject. The portraits she did for me, in addition to being gorgeous, surprised me with their insight. I reached out to Vero for a lifestyle portrait session as a graduate school graduation present to myself, and it was one of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had! Vero is professional and organized, sweet and personable, and of course, crazy talented. Before our session, she took the time to learn about the look and feel I wanted for my photos, brainstorm location, help me choose outfits, and help me set up a hair and makeup session. During the actual shoot, she was fun, easygoing, and made me feel comfortable and confident (and my photos definitely reflect that)! After the shoot, she was timely about following up with proofs and delivering my final images, all of which I absolutely LOVE! Throughout the process, Vero was great about organizing and communicating all the logistics surrounding the shoot.
