**Implicit Bias/ Racism
Implicit Bias/Racism I was at the store at approximately 5pm on January 27th. I picked just one item, a cropped white blazer and headed to the checkout counter. As the person at the checkout counter started ringing me up, another staff walked up and asked me if I going to take the bag. I assumed she was asking if I needed a bag for the blazer & said something to the effect that I can use one of my other shopping bags I already had with me. This is where things started going wrong.
She gestured to the Liberty sling bag (an Anthro bag I had purchased several months ago) I had across my body, insinuating that I am shoplifting it. To provide you context, I am a woman of Indian heritage, so darker skinned . I am wearing a white cashmere sweater without any other jackets on top, so the bag is in full view for anyone who sees me. What I am trying to clarify here is that, there is no trouble in seeing the bag on me and I am not trying to hide that I have it on me. I was confused for a second and it dawned on me where the person was going with it. I said it is mine. She then walks up closer to examine it and saw I had an airline baggage tag on it from my recent flight.
She quickly backtracked, said she's tired and has had a long day and needs sleep. She said she could not see the bag well from a distance.
It's clear as day that this staff member made several unfair judgements/assumptions, whatever you want to call it, made on my character and economic status as a colored woman.Implicit Bias/ Racism
I write this because my children witnessed it and they were appalled that something they see on TV and read about online happened to their mother . I write it so no other patrons are dealt the same hand because of the color of their skin or what their external appearance or clothes may be...

I’m extremely disappointed with Anthropologie. I ordered a dress for my graduation ceremony, but due to multiple issues with your service, it didn’t arrive on time—despite two expedited orders and several visits to your stores.
• 5/3: I placed an expedited order at the Seattle store, expected by 5/5. • 5/4: Returned to the store since I hadn’t received a confirmation email. I was told to wait until 5/5 and contact customer service if nothing arrived. • 5/7: Still no delivery. I visited the Pittsburgh store and was told the original transaction failed due to Apple Pay. I placed another expedited order, this time expected by 5/9. • 5/9: Still nothing. Customer service promised it would arrive before midnight. • 5/10: My graduation ceremony—I had to wear an old dress because the order hadn’t arrived. • 5/12: The dress finally arrived, but I had already left Pittsburgh. A friend had to pick it up and bring it to Seattle for me.
This was one of the most frustrating and disappointing shopping experiences I’ve ever had. Your service completely failed me during a...
Read moreI was searching for a last minute wedding dress today, kind of on the down low. One of the associates asked me in a very kind way if I was going to a big event in the next week. She ended up trying to find me a dress and even hunt down their bridal associate. I didn’t end up finding anything today but I’ll be back soon to get a reception dress. I wish I remembered their names but literally 4 different associates kindly offered assistance to me in the hour or so I was in the store and not in the way that makes you feel like they have security watching you. Two of them had names similar to Chona (sorry ladies, I know that’s probably not even close). I hope your manager sees this! I only ended up leaving with some homeware but wow, they went above and beyond. I missed retail like this, I know how hard it can be working in retail and especially downtown, so that extra kindness was amazing. Thanks,...
