I’ve been here a couple of times pre-pandemic and recently went back. I’m happy to say the food and service was not impacted!
Parking: As this is in downtown Seattle, its limited street parking but some parking lots around. Pet friendly: Not inside but they have a few small bistro outside. Family friendly: I actually don’t know as I haven’t seen kids in there but they do have seating outside the proximity of their bar so maybe?
FOOD: Fried Pickles (Dill pickles chips coated in a light cornmeal breading with a hint of spice, served with house burger sauce): 5 Stars – Super yummy! Excellent amount of breading – not too much or too little, good crispy crunchy stuff, good dill flavor that isn’t too much or too little. I love a good sauce and this burger sauce is extremely good and went well with the dilly taste of the pickles.
Roasted Tomato & Whipped Feta (bite size tomatoes roasted with garlic and accompanied with whipped feta, served with grilled baguette slices): 3 Stars – It was good but roast tomato can only go so far with me. I love the feta and the bread through – dairy and buttery carbs 😊
Soup of the day, Clam Chowder: 5 Stars – Probably one of the best clam chowder I’ve had, it actually made me crave it more after that I made some at home. Really creamy and flavorful so you know they used fatty cream! No skimping on calories here! I really like that it comes with buttery toasted bread instead of the store bought oyster crackers.
MENU/RESTAURANT: I love the very English Pub style – dark wood, dark lighting, etc. I remember the first time I came to the restaurant, walking down the stairs, I wasn’t expecting much because it had a few tiny outside tables and a sign. It didn’t show much how big the restaurant was inside. The menu has something for everyone, pretty standard pub style food but it has more options than I expected for our vegan friend. I’ve never had a bad meal here so for me that’s saying a lot.
SERVICE: Similar to the food, the service has always been great. Each time we’ve had someone that was always prompt, checked on our table, and always available when we...
Read moreAfter a tiring day at work, with no energy left to explore, we just wanted to finish off dinner somewhere near our hotel. On a short stroll we found Elephant and Castle & found it interesting, so we walked in.
After a quick wait browsing through the menu, we decided our drinks & mains & swiftly placed our orders. The drink options, almost 60 draughts were extensive, & our drink orders arrived pretty soon.
However that was not the case with our mains, it took a really long time for it to arrive. From my observation where there were a lot of people with a badge / tag, maybe they got an extra group of conference people, the restaurant was overflowing & so many orders were being delivered to large groups.
This place is an English Pub | Restaurant, so obviously they had all the popular items, be in Pot Pie, Fish N Chips, & off course the humble Butter Chicken.
Though it’s against my vow to eat any form of Indian food when am outside Indian borders, so I stayed clear off it. However the butter chicken might be their most popular dish, almost all the tables around us were ordering it & the aroma was too good, am sure it must have tasted as good as well.
I had ordered a lamb burger which I loved, a great patty to bun portion size with yummy veggies, nice crunch to meat ratio. Loved the beautifully seasoned patty which was absolutely perfect. However I was not a big fan of the bun, maybe that’s something these guys can improve, decent fries to accompany, no complaints there.
But now I know where to get decent British food here in Seattle and am definitely coming back for the fish & Chips, also for the butter chicken if I ever miss...
Read moreThe bartender and food was really good. But, the manager was abysmal. When I was seated, I chose to sit at “the bar”. That was the term that the hostess chose. After looking at the menu, my family and I saw another couple had chosen an appetizer that we were considering, so I walked over to ask them what their opinion was. Apparently, I was in the way of the server/manager and he said “sit down and take a seat”. No “excuse me” or “pardon me”…but, “sit down and take a seat”. I let it go. An hour or so later, another couple sat next to me complaining of the same person. I told them my story of my run in with a server that told me to sit down. The “manager” overheard and asked the name of the server knowing full well it was him I had the run in with. He then walked away and came back stating it was him that told me that. When he came back and confessed it was him that said that to me, I said “you work in a bar, you should show some patience with your patrons”. His response was “it’s not a bar, it’s a restaurant” and became very defensive with me. As I stated earlier, I was seated at “THE BAR”. The “manager” of this establishment was extremely rude and aggressive to, not only me, but also to another couple that was extremely upset with him. Customer service is very important to me. Everybody that worked in this establishment was exceptional, except for the “manager”. This dude needs to lose his job. Until he does, I will never step foot in there again and I will tell everyone I know that the customer service there is awful. Shame on this establishment for letting this guy have the title of...
