This is a great option to get between Westlake and the Space Needle. Westlake is a short walk from the main attractions we like to see at the waterfront, so it makes it nice to eat up a couple extra miles of walking between the two main areas of attractions. If $5 round trip to save 45+ minutes of walking in hot downtown traffic isn't worth your time... you don't value your time very much. The fare is cheap and when you only have a limited amount of time in an area, it's definitely worth the price when you consider that's time you could spend doing other things.

Convenience aside, it provides unique entertainment value as well. Our toddler absolutely loved "riding the train" and it was a highlight of his of our short time spent in Seattle. With memories like that,...

I. LOVE. TAKING. THE. MONORAIL!!!!!

Even as a Seattle resident I take the Monorail to Westlake station a very decent amount when I am traveling to Cap Hill or just need to get downtown. They take Orca cars so if you have one I recommend using instead of your credit card or cash as I do believe its cheaper (I think). The Monorail carts arrive every 10-15mins and is a quick 3-5ish min trip to Westlake. It is a fun way to see Seattle from above the ground floor as well. The Monorail is also pretty clean and they are upgrading the station at Westlake so its a bit of a mess but it will be worth it when its all done and updated. Enjoy our lovely Monorail and happy touring...

Never have I gotten such horrible service from the monorail station. I was patiently waiting in line why the clerk left his station to get change for the tourist ahead of us. (Why that was even an option I don't understand.) All while the monorail had arrived and passengers were exiting. Then when we came up to the window they told us that we had to wait for the next monorail. Really? You had us wait for you to go grab change for the other passenger then had the odacity to tell us to wait. At least have the common decency to return those two minutes of my time. Along with the the rest of my time I had to wait in line. AVOID RIDING DURING...

When it's hot and crowded in Seattle (Seafair), the Monorail is a great option!! We were conducting back-to-school shopping downtown and decided to park at the Seattle center ($20/12hrs), took the Monorail to all of the shops, walked down to pikes place market for food and took the Monorail back to the Space needle to watch a movie in the park. I definitely recommend it if you have kids who may get tired from walking all over town. Today, it helped us safely avoid the crowd from the parade for a fair price ($2 for adults and $1 for the kids, one way - cash or card).

Monorail is so much fun. It’s a short ride to the Space Needle area from almost Pikes Place. Makes it easy to leave your car parked and use the monorail to get there. Stairs or elevator to go up to the 3rd level. You can purchase tickets there. I’d recommend buying them roundtrip so you can just walk up and scan your ticket for the return. The monorail is nice and clean. Always enjoy using it. Try it out to add to your experience! Worth it!
