We had a fun evening at Hot Stove. We attend a "demo" of BBQ cooking and a most entertaining meal.
Hot Stove is located in the mezzanine of the Hotel Andra. The facility includes a large teaching kitchen with tables for about 30 students flanking the cooking area. Large video monitors showed the "Food Channel" overhead view of the workspace.
Our class was taught by Bradley Layfield and Chris Schwarz assisted by two sous chefs. Using prepared trays of ingredients, they prepared a rub, four BBQ sauces, BBQ Pork Ribs, BBQ Pork Shoulder, baked beans, cole slaw, Brunswick Stew (delightful!), and caramel cake. As they cooked, an assistant delivered tastes (or a portion) of each concoction to each student.

They have a "team building" option where the whole group makes several dishes and then everyone eats what we cooked together. I really enjoyed it! The whole staff was amazing. I wish I could call them all out here, but the only name I remember is Jim since he was helping my group. Read moreThe Fried Squid we ordered was "too fried" and salty. At first it tasted okay but I guess the salt settled at the bottom. Squid shouldn't really be too fried or else it becomes too chewy.
They did remove the fried squid from our bill so that was good. The other things we ordered was pretty good and the ambiance was great. The server was really attentive at first but I guess she got busy.
Price is fair, food matches the price except for our bad experience on the fried squid.
