This store made me vow to never buy another Kuhl product again. Don't get me wrong, I have several of their pants and they are fantastic. But I bought a rain jacket at this store and was told it was waterproof. A half day spent on the Skagit River in moderate rain proved otherwise, I was soaked to the bone. To be honest, it was only 150 bucks, so what did I expect? Well, when they tell me it's waterproof, I expect at least some sort of waterproofing. Anyways, I replaced it with a jacket from another company and attempted to return the jacket to the store. Keep in mind, it had been worn once. The manager acted like I was trying to pull a fast one, declared that it was their best selling rain jacket and thsi was the first time anyone had ever said it wasn't waterproof. "Ok, can I just return it?" He told me the store policy was "once you wear it, it's yours. No returns. But he was going to make an exception in this case." I said thank you and he didn't even acknowledge this. Now, had I bought the jacket at REI, returns would have not been an issue. But the fact that the company has such a horrible and worthless return policy made me realize I will not support this company. And as for the manager of this store, you really need to learn some customer service skills. It took me fifteen minutes to find parking to return this jacket, I was perfectly pleasant, not unreasonable, and spent several hundred dollars in your store. I certainly did not deserve to be treated like a con artist. To put it in perspective, I bought an ARC-Teryx jacket after this. I spent several days working ALL DAY in torrential downpours. Not a drop made it through the jacket and I was dry as a bone the entire time. Don't make claims that...
Read moreIf you are looking for something to wear that is well made with unique style, you should check out the Kuhl Store.
I have 3 Kuhl jackets (1 soft shell, 1 fleece, and now 1 down mid weight) and all have performed great. The soft shell has remained water resistant even after several years of wear and several washes. I wear the Kuhl Alfpaca fleece underneath and both together are quite ergonomic... the cut of the sleeves and shoulders match real humans so the jackets hang good on you and not just the hanger. Also, the look is stylish enough for going out to dinner after the hiking in the woods.
The Kuhl store staff (2nd and Pike) were very knowledgeable about the products (differences between models, construction, materials, etc.) and also spoke highly of the various products that they themselves own. My girlfriend ended up getting 3 jackets (I bought a spyfire down to add to my existing) and the staff answered all of the associated questions for almost 2 hours of looking/trying on various items... no pressure, just help when you ask.. very nice. .
Oh, as you know (or will find out) the parking in downtown sucks, but there is a pay parking garage directly across the street from the store on Pike -its your...
Read moreI called the Seattle store and spoke with Ian about an Above The Law pair of pants. I was looking for the carbon color with the embroidery Kuhl logo on the rear pocket, a must for me! It seems that Kuhl is phasing out the embroidery logo on the rear pocket for whatever reason. I personally really like that feature and they are getting harder to find. If you order from the web site you don't know what you going to receive so, I choose to call the store to actually talk to a sales person so they can verify what exactly I am looking for. Customer service at Kuhl won't check for you period so you get what you get. Ian was super helpful in all respects and answered all my question throughly and is a great sales person. I am 5'10" @ 165 and I ordered a 32×34 that he suggested and they fit absolutely perfect plus it has the verified Kuhl logo on the rear pocket that he had checked for me. Ian shipped them very fast and I received very quick with some Kuhl goodies (THANKS). I will call the Seattle store first from now on and I will ask for Ian. The Above The Law pants are excellent and completely top quality. I own the Lawless, 4 pairs, The Law, 2 pairs and now, the Above The Law. Thanks again Ian and God...
