The 8th Drifter — Local services in Town of East Hampton

Had a terrible customer service experience with this store. I went to the store to purchase an item but they closed early due to rain. Mind you, the first week of October stores in Montauk only close due to end of the season-not rain...in that case, the only store in prime area that closed shop bc of rain. I messaged them on their social media platform asking if they'd ship the book and honor a coupon code for free shipping. The owner said they can't offer free shipping bc of the size of the item. Not sure what store wouldnt offer to ship for free when they closed their store for rain -that's just me.

My family was then in the area and offered to pick up the item- knowing I wanted to gift this item to another family member. My sister had a giftcard to the "little drifter"(children’s store)which is advertised and marketed as part of the 8th drifter. The little drifter was recently sold and the announcement was signed by the owners of the 8th Drifter. With that, they wouldnt honor the 100 giftcard bc of the change of ownership. I mentioned to the 8th drifter we weren't interested in returning to childrens store to use the card bc of a previous customer service experience there- but still said no they won't honor the card bc of x,y,z...but end of the day, a store owner will do what they want to do when it comes to customer service- and it was clear that 100 was more important than making a customer happy...on a second occasion at this location. Will never purchase or recommend this as a local to...

Love this shop and the beautiful things they carry! I bought the Tobacco & Patchouli candle which quickly became my all-time favorite candle. The container is a work of art and has been repurposed as a hair tie holder for my nightstand. Can't wait to shop here again...
