After watching our dog lie on the floor next to my husband's chair for 2 years now, I decided we needed a larger chair that could fit both of them. Once I decided that this chair should also recline, we headed to La-Z-Boy, because where else would you go when looking for reclining furniture?
We were greeted at the door by our salesperson Herb, and once I explained what we were after he was able to show us some options. It had been many years since I've looked at furniture, so I was very surprised at some of the new innovations in reclining. It took no time at all to find the perfect recliner for us, with features that both the husband and I were excited about. After looking through the fabric selections Herb sent us home with several swatches to contemplate.
It was such a nice experience, being in that store. The camaraderie between the associates was refreshing, just about everybody in there spoke to us, and everybody was friendly to our dog. We went back the very next day and I was actually looking forward to it, because the place is so welcoming! No sooner had we walked in the door, when Herb came over to greet our dog, and he even remembered his name!
This is where we turned into customers who require patience. I was second-guessing the purchase, so at that point we basically started from scratch with Herb and he was saintly about it. Of course, quite a while later we decided to go ahead with our original selection. Herb never showed an instant of frustration or impatience with us, he only seemed to care that we made the selection that was right for us.
When we sat down to complete our transaction, Herb was very thorough. He went over everything with me, ensuring that I was aware of all available benefits and all of the store policies, and he did it in a very friendly and conversational way.
Both the husband and I are very pleased with our experience in the store. The floor is set up beautifully and it's sparkling clean. Everybody is friendly, not just our salesperson. And our salesperson Herb, besides being professional and knowledgeable, radiated warmth...

One side is short on material. More stuffing did not help Update: September 2025. I would never spend the $ again for this custom made furniture. A repair person has been here two times now. The electric chair still sounds old and squeaky. The middle cushion of the manual couch was cut short on one side. Still with added stuffing it still has a huge space between that corner and the end cushion. Looks horrible. Please really inspect your new furniture. $5000.00. not well spent. š
Just ordered a couch and recliner. Herb Alexander helped us from beginning to end. Very helpful! No pressure at all. Just helpful.

Update May 2025: We received our new reclining custom made couch and electric recliner chair last November. Our rocking recliner squeaks like it's at least 50! I say that because I had one for 30 years. And it never squeaked! The middle cushion on our couch is very understuffed. (On one corner) We have been trying to get on the service tech schedule for 2 months now. Even though we told them to remove my daughter's phone number because she can't take calls during her 10 hour work day. They keep calling her phone number. Just one call and they don't bother calling back. Just be aware if you have problems with new furniture. You might not be able to get your furniture service before the warranty expires. At this point I'm thinking maybe we should have shopped around a little more instead of just feeling like lazy boy is the best you can get. Not quality built furniture anymore. Left another message today for the 4th or 5th time now. Still hoping for good results. Not expecting them though. But I would definitely think twice before spending almost $5,000 on two pieces...

WHY did I not START at La-Z-Boy? To be honest, I was concerned about the price. But today, I went to LZB Tualatin, and found a chair that met my needs, AND my wants!
Cassandra is an awesome salesperson, who listened to me, and helped me as I narrowed down which chair was best for me. She was helpful and attentive, without being pushy, which I SO appreciated. I was pretty much āchaired outā before arriving.
Long story, cut a bit shorter, I made the leap, and purchased the chair I have visualized for a very long time. Now, to wait for delivery ⦠it feels like waiting for Christmas!!
I paid a bit for the chair, but am beyond comfortable with the decision. With La-Z-Boy standing behind their product, I know I wonāt be left alone IF something were to happen a year from now. That helps, so much.
