I love going to tybee island. We usually get golf carts to avoid paying for parking, however we did not have them for the first day of our trip this year, so we had to pay for parking at the beach. I paid $21 for parking that day but when I came back to my vehicle I noticed a $75 ticket even though I had paid. I was cited for parking in a spot that had a yellow curb. There weren’t any “no parking” signs anywhere, and the road (on 10th street) was very wore and tore up. To me it looked like a regular parking space. ( I will include a picture.) I had no clue that a yellow curb meant no parking and even if it did the paint was so worn that you could hardly tell. I was very disappointed that I got a parking ticket so I went to parking services and tried to at least get the $20 I had paid for parking that day took off as this was an honest mistake. (I think her name is Lynn), the director of parking services was very rude and annoyed when I came in to talk to her about this and explain the situation on phone and in person. She was very condescending and made many smart remarks to me as I tried to explain the situation. When I asked her if she could take the $20 I had paid for parking that day off the ticket she told me no and that I would need to dispute it with my bank to get it back. I would think that since I tried to do the right thing and pay for parking she would at least have mercy on me, but I was incorrect and felt highly disrespected by the manner in which she conducted herself! This is the only bad experience I have ever had with tybee island and the only thing that would make me not want to...
Read moreI have always loved coming to Tybee (for about 30 years). Tonight solidified why I will never return. Photos attached.
While I LOVE nothing more than young people enjoying fun in the sun. I realized, this once quaint beach I could get to In less than 5 hours and my body type was not unusual, has become way worse than PCB where we use to go and party our butts off, by 1000%. We may have been mistaken but Panama City Beach during spring break and in the summer seemed more attractive to younger people than it did to families. I had always felt that Tybee was the opposite.
This is the second time I visited Tybee (letting bygones from our last- not so good experience which was similar but less intense, be bygones).
My son and I, while amazed and in awe, did not enjoy the display outside our oceanfront (premium $$) hotel room. The twerking classes/competitions where valuable.
The police officers clearly did as much as they could to help clear the noise and crowd issues.
I will never be back. Thanks for the previous 29 great years and...
Read moreI am renting on Tybee Island and my shower handle would not shut the water off. I tried to fix it but it was obviously out of my skill set. I called the Tybee Island police dept, the officer was very polite and had the on call water dept employee call me right back. I then got the pleasure of meeting Mr. Glenn Conway. I would like his supervisor as well as the Mayor and City Director to know what a gem they have in Mr. Conway. He came right over although it was well after 10pm on Saturday night. After much time spent in this brutal July heat he was able to locate the meter, access the situation tell me how to stop the water flow in the shower and he even uncovered the water access that had been vastly overgrown for a number of years. He went above and beyond his call of duty and did it in such a kind way. Please recognize him. He is truly deserving. Moving to Tybee has been a dream of mine for years now that I am here I’d like to thank everyone I have met in one capacity or another. Tybee people are so friendly. Thankful to be here...
