I never write reviews but for this place I will. First of all I have been a fitness junky throughout my entire life specifically focused on aesthetic goals. I used to take Pure Barre classes in Charlottesville with amazing instructors who go around and, because they understand how your body should be moving even on the tiniest level, they adjust you properly through movements. I wonāt say this Solidcore doesnāt kind of adjust you but if you are someone who falls into bad form easily or wonāt pay attention to those little things like knee or pelvis or toe placement / direction- donāt expect that kind of help. Because of this, I gained one inch of muscle on my waistline just after one class (I do gain muscle quickly- and yes I base measurements off of mornings after sleeping so no the inch was not from post class swelling). I understand that itās uncomfortable to go around fixing form to an extreme level that I mention but itās really needed in fitness methods involving this much core usage. Pilates and barre variants are only as effective as your form.
Also, the instructors are very kind except for one. I didnāt track her name because she was subbing for someone but she was really rude as soon as I walked in and then to someone else as well. In my personal situation I had come in and started stashing items in the shelf on the wall because the one single class prior I had taken the instructor had said that was ok and what they were there for. She looked at me as I was doing that and said āare you new here?ā in the most derogatory tone completely unnecessary considering nobody was arguing with or offending her. It made me so uncomfortable. She did something later to someone else that I canāt remember but I remember how uncomfortable it made me feel. All in all that alone was enough to make me dislike this place- Iām forcing myself to do a tough workout and now you want me to deal with someone so high up on their horse they donāt know how to be polite and welcoming?
By this point, I had already stupidly signed up for the 12 month membership because I had thought Iād really enjoy going as I had previously enjoyed going to Cyclebar and then Pure Barre when I had memberships at those spots. After another month or two of not using it, I decided to cancel. The contract I signed clearly stated āif you wish to terminate your membership prior to the completion of your twelve month contract, subject to the 30 day notice, you will incur an early termination fee of one month of your current membership rate.ā They then hit me with a this will actually cost you two months of your membership rate because āin the Terms and Conditions says it.ā I signed a contract that clearly states āif you wish to terminate your membership prior to the completion of your twelve month contract, subject to the 30 day notice, you will incur an early termination fee of one month of your current membership rate.ā Why do you have that stated in your contract so clearly and simply if youāre going to double back and go āoh wait actualllllyyy itās more complicated then thatā? I imagine that causes just general awkwardness for your employees as they have to deal with these complaints and commentaries from peopleās confusions. The statement doesnāt even have an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a great class with Sharee P. At Navy Yard. She was attentive throughout, offering helpful modifications and amplifications to match individual needs. She took requests and made the workout feel personalized and engaging. Sharee also demonstrated moves clearly, which made it easy to follow and stay in proper form. Her energy was motivating. The soundtrack was fun and matched the pace of the workout well. Highly recommend taking her class if you want to feel supported...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreExcellent workout! The coaches are amazing and extremely supportive of each client. Itās a community feel, but each person has an individual workout, getting out of it what they put in. Iām a gym devotee, but made the jump to [solidcore] 2 years ago and itās become my primary workout. I canāt say enough about how much you walk away with after each class: community, high fives, shakey muscles, sweat from a great workout, a felling of...
