Ok DC, Silver Social Navy Yard is the real deal. I dare say, a unicorn. If you spend much time in the food and drink scene in DC you know there are several great food spots and several great drink spots, but very few with both AND amazing service. This place has a great combo of fine dining and a neighborhood joint style service. The service is timely, friendly, and just all around on point. Every single person not only provides an excellent experience, but seems like the kind of person you want to hang out with too. The menu is simple and short with a very well curated mix of excellently executed dishes, all of which have a surprising complexity or twist that makes them both delicious and interesting. I have seen it posted here many times, but the Short Rib really is nuts! The roasted cauliflower was delicious, and the Chimichurri wings were so good, I can’t wait to have them on the terrace in the spring! Huge shout out to Brian for putting together an amazing crew. Messiah (as his name implies) guided us on a great journey. Ish, and the entire crew really go out of their way to make a great night. If it is not obvious by now, service is crazy important to me and they really did not disappoint. The view, the set up, and the service are so good they could get away with mediocre drinks and so-so food, thankfully, they decided to nail it on all fronts. The drinks were superb. Espresso Martini, Margarita, Maui Mule, and the Fancy Colada were all interesting, refreshing, and absolutely delicious.

Went there with some friends for a late happy hour. 5.5 hours later we finally decided we should leave some for everyone else. 😀

Can’t say enough great things. You might expect that it would be like a slight twist on Silver Diner (which, if you know them would not be bad), but they are completely different. Different vibe (much more cocktail bar/bistro vibe, with an awesome view). The only thing they really have in common with Silver Diner is location (upper level of Silver Diner) and a dedication to quality.

This will definitely become a regular spot for us in Navy Yard.

Brian, Ismael (Ish), and Messiah, we will see you again...

Silver social was a great spot for brunch. We were seated immediately when we arrived for our reservation. The first thing I'll say is to carefully read the menu because although the offer the basics (chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, etc), they have some different twists that really impact the taste. Overall the service was great. Our main server was good but kind of got distracted at times. I noticed that they were casually chatting with another table on the outdoor deck a few times for a quite a few minutes at a time. However, other servers were happy to help us with a few things (extra set of utensils, refills of champagne for bottomless mimosas, etc) when we asked. There were also some managers that checked in on us. After we finished eating, but still hanging out and finishing our reservation, we were asked to moved to a different booth so that they could accommodate a larger group. We were happy to do so and the manager also offered a round of dessert for the move. However, we noticed the larger party was never seated so that irked us a little bit but not enough to really stain the experience. The food was all really good. We shared all of our entrees and two sides of bacon. The benedict was so good but there was hardly any pork belly on it, so the item description was a bit misleading. The shrimp and grits cake was so good! The grits cake was different and not amazing, but the flavor of the shrimp made up for it, for SURE. The chicken and waffles dish was also good but the items were not really cohesive. The oven roasted chicken was good and the waffles were good separately. We all enjoyed the free desserts (churros and flourless cake) and the entire experience was nice. Great ambiance as well. This will be a great place to return to as the weather...

Two friends and I went here for happy hour on Friday night. We sat outside, but there are heaters both overhead and near the ground to try to keep you warm. We got seated quickly and the waiter was really nice. The hh menu doesnt have food, but apps aren't unreasonable at the regular price anyway. HH beers are 5 or 6, mixed drinks (including a good margarita) were 8. The hummus and cheese and pretzels were all tasty. Anyway then some guy comes by and ask how we are doing (great), why we decided on SS (reviews I saw on social media), and asked if we tried any of the food. In addition to the apps mentioned, we also had the flatbread, which was also good. And then he says he's gonna buy us a big main dish! Did we want the salmon or the short ribs? Both, he said, were amazing and he promised would be the best food we would have in the city. We picked the short ribs, and after he left we realized these bad boys cost $75! So we asked our waiter to make sure it wasn't some goof playing jokes on people. It wasn't, it was Bob, the CEO of silver diner. Anyway as promised, they short ribs were delivered and were as good as they were promised to be. Now to be fair, my friends and I are extremely good looking, so that may have had something to do with the complimentary food, so I imagine not everyone will get that level of service. But still it was a fun night. Thanks to Bob and the team!
