Conte's Bike Shop — Local services in Washington

I had a awesome experience with Conti’s today . I waited for them to find the right tires for my eBike thats compatible for the city use and lucky they found a set of tires & the waiting time was like an hr. And I was ok with that “ so , went to grab some launch at Blue Jacket bar restaurant “ and came back and saw my bike on the rack getting the tires installed, so it’s was perfect timing!!! I was so happy! And mechanic expected the whole bike and saw minor issues and explain it to me what he did to fix it and I was pleased that it was fixed and read for the city use ! Mechanics are very good on solving problems before it could be a problem, there very professional at there work ! The staff was very nice and talkative that shows good customer support & and caring our needs . I bought some nice sun glasses there “ and a tire patch kit thats holds 36 tier repairs for only $5 . Which is a life saver.. who knows what can happen riding around the city . So , I’m just so happy that I made my perfect home base location here at Conti’s here at the Navy yard for being a S.W. Water resident “ it means a lot to me !!! Thanks a bunch !!! Conti’s is the best Spot here in S.W. Area ! I’ll spread the word .. go to Conti’s bike...

Above & Beyond

I've been going to Conte's for a few years now for sporadic issues. Recently, I had a double flat from a pinch puncture that Conte's fixed up same-day for me after other bike shops quoted me 24-26 hour turnarounds. After picking up early the next morning before a bike ride with a friend I ended the ride nearby in Navy Yard 2 hours later and to my horror my front tube punctured seemingly randomly while just walking it outside of the stadium.

Even though the store was closed I made my way there sort of blindly hoping to find a pump, but mostly just delaying taking buses home with a busted bike. To my eternal glee the store manager was still there and even though he had no earthly reason to, he let me in and spent time checking out the tire/tube. He found a minuscule piece of glass inside the rim that punctured the tube but not the tire. He replaced the tube and didn't charge me for the services and wouldn't accept any gratitude on my behalf other than writing this review.

So in short, Conte's is nothing if not filled with genuine, wonderful employees who will go above & beyond to help you. I certainly didn't deserve anything he did for me that night, but I'll always be...

I got a long overdue tune-up on my bike. The work itself was done well - no complaints there. That said, Conte's charged 2x as much as I'm used to paying for this service. Unfortunately, the other bike shops near me have shut down, so it seems Conte's is taking advantage of that to soak their customers. In addition, when I dropped off the bike, Conte's told me they would text me when my bike was ready - they never did so. I called them to check in 1 day after they told me it would be ready, and they said it was good to go. I wonder how long it would have taken them to contact me had I not reached out to them first. At the shop itself when I went to pick up my bike, one of the employees was wearing a mask around his chin only. The shop has a "no mask, no entry" sign outside. It was irresponsible and frankly insulting for this employee to flout the shop's public health measures so flagrantly. It made me very nervous. I do not understand why the other employees there, all of whom were wearing masks properly over their noses and mouths, allowed their colleague to put them and their customers at risk in this manner.
