It calls itself a 4 star hotel, but to be honest it is far from it. Cleaning in the room was superficial at best, with the filth on the curtains so bad, it made our kids clothing so dirty they couldn't wear them. The wear and tear in the room (and the whole hotel to be honest) is pretty bad as well with the bathroom showing lots of water damage. It clearly hasn't been updated in a long time.
The room smelt of stale smoke, and for a double Queen room the fitout is very poor with 2 flimsy wooden chairs a small table and a small plastic chair and desk.... Again, all very cheap and flimsy.
Even basic things weren't done. We had 2 adults and 2 children in our room, but we were only given 2 towels.
My experience with the front desk staff was very poor as well, and they were quite rude and didn't really show much concern for guests. This was my experience at check in where we were told to use the machine, and at the times I asked for help, there were very dismissive. The only staff member who was helpful was a cleaner we met on the first day.
We drove here, and we were told that there was guest parking on site. However, this is not the case. It is an open car park, and because the RSL next door has paid parking, everyone parks in the "hotel" car park. It's so bad that when we went to dinner we could not get a car park on our return. We asked the front desk person if we could park at the front, and we were told we would have to find a park on the street in town, as they don't guarantee parking for guests. Again, just really poor form for a hotel that claims to be 4 star.
Finally the bar and restaurant is a joke for a 4 star hotel. It had an ok but limited breakfast, and after that everything to do with food and drink closes until 5pm. There is no room service, and you can't buy anything from the bar, or restaurant downstairs until 5 PM.
My advice is do not stay here, it is not a 4 star hotel... It is 3 at best, and that feels a little like a stretch. For $200 a night you would.be better off going to Quest.
It put a bad taste on an otherwise great...

Read moreA welcoming greeting when we first arrived and a surprise at the awesomeness of the room once we opened the door. Plenty of room to spread out with an enormous and very comfortable bed meant a good night sleep was ours. An area to relax and chill out on a couch with a drink if required and a good view from the nearby window of the town below. A well equipped fridge and snack area if one desired and a more than adequate bathroom around the corner. A delicious menu to choose from for dinner from the restaurant downstairs if you didn't wish to leave the hotel. The buffet breakfast provided plenty to choose from from cereal and toast to a hot breakfast which was well worth the small price we paid. We were pleasantly surprised that there was a guest laundry which not only did you not need to pay to use the machines, but laundry powder could be provided free of charge as well. The use of free internet was certainly one of many cherries on the top of the cake along with very friendly staff to help answer any queries and help, to the central location to the main shops and facilities. A pretty town with obvious heritage and a beautiful botanic garden to stroll through and admire the well manicured grass and beautiful flowers and foliage. Coming from overseas it was wonderful to hear the local bird life as well. Our only disappointment was the fact that we were only staying for one night. A return visit will be on our schedule as my son has a good friend who lives in the area. Booking at the Atura will be a priority should and when we plan a return visit to the...
