Good food but unfortunately have to rate this 1 star as the owner refused to give me tap water. This is actually unlawful.
There is tap water in the fridge available but I can’t drink that because it’s too harsh on my throat. I already bought food and a carton of soy milk from them just before asking for water so I really don’t understand.
He refused to even when there was no one waiting and said to go to the toilets, But I have my bag of study books and a plate of food and open bonsoy so I can’t just go and do that.
Really weirded out as I have been a regular customer here for years, since I moved to west end. Thought I would be more looked after than this. And he refused to in a rude and defensive way. I really don’t get what the big deal of filling a water bottle is and this is the first time in my life anyone at a cafe or restaurant flat out refused this request.
Owner needs to get his attitude in check and not be stubborn with customers. He insisted ‘I’m not doing it and I’m not going to argue with it’- over filling a bottle with water. Just insane.
I did nothing to deserve such attitude.
I have heard from others he is rude to them too so at least I know it’s not personal. But really this is just disappointing.
I can only support businesses where the owners are good vibe and kind unfortunately, even just a neutral interaction is good enough for me to feel good about spending money there.
But rude- no.
So not going to come back here.
EDIT rude owner has responded attempting to accuse me of harassment and abuse. I did not do anything of the such. I simply asked for some water in my bottle normally and politely after buying a meal and a drink and was staunchly refused this. When questioning why, he got grumpy with me and now is trying to blame me for simply asking for a basic need. I was not harassing or abusing anyone or anything. Pretty sad really. Unfortunate as the food is good and I know they have a high turnover of staff because the staff can't handle his rudeness sometimes too.
Support kind, friendly and polite...
Read moreThis spot is absolutely fabulous. Small cafe with good outdoor space. Everyone here seemed comfortable with the atmosphere (70’s music, relaxed vibe, thoughtful touches like the water and cups). Owner aware of gluten intolerant vs. celiac. Food is top notch. Best I’ve had in a long time. Fresh and everything made in shop. You can taste the good health in each bite. Incredibly balanced and well seasoned. Falafel, tahini, tabbouleh, hummus, pickled turnips were all incredible. Crisp vegetables. Gluten-free wrap was tasty and held up to the generous portion. Busy lunch time at the restaurant and the employees hustled to get the food out quickly. To the people who thought the staff was rude, I say, treat them with respect. The owner was a no-nonsense, genuine person. He was helpful and humorous with me. Savor the food and check your ego...
Read moreThe food was delicious but it was ruined by a sour taste of poor service from the staff. I simply asked to change the wrap by removing the sauce and they took it as if it was the end of the world. They were so rude and answered me with smart remarks and comments. They were very reluctant to accommodate my needs and the man who took my order actually stated that he was going to regret making my wrap because it would be ruined. And to top it all off when we were sitting down my friend asked for a knife and fork as she has a hard time biting into big things because of her braces, the lady replied in a sarcastic manner with "are you serious?"
I will definitely NOT be going back there again!! Unless of course the staff have some lessons on how to be...
