I don’t like this kind of review but we (5 of us) got so annoyed and wasted our time because we were there at 11am for lunch but they actually open at 11:30. One of us managed to get in just after 11 because one of the door was open then one of staff asked him “how did you get in here, we open at 11:30”. While your google opening time says you open at 11. Also your SLIDING DOOR says you open at 11 (see the photo). So annoyed and didn’t want to wait till they serve anything. Went elsewhere for lunch. Wasted our valuable time and now I know you are unreliable which could be critical for a newly opening restaurants. However I am fully intended to amend this review with future experience but not today. Thanks for updating your opening time in google but i don’t want to give more stars because your men’s toilet smell like public toilet stale urine for last three visits. Hmm. Nice new pretty interior but urine smell?

All the eateries at Yagan Square have been replaced by the one big restaurant/pub/bar but it has different zones. We went to Karla which is mostly asian/european fusion food. And we were amazed to get such good food in the centre of Perth, the duck was cooked just so, salt & pepper squid was soft, not overcooked, just the way we like it. The sides were inventive, Tom Yum fried rice and a lovely papaya salad which was so obviously made from fresh ingredients... the mint leaves looked like they were straight off the plant. Sadly there were only 3 tables in use in Karla but the cheap eats downstairs were full, get to Karla soon while its still alive! Oh I forgot to mention the excellent wine list and some very creative cocktails. Could only have one so we need to go back! It is expensive. But worth it, I don't mind paying over the top for excellent food :-)

The best place to go for a night on the town in the centre of town. It was a Saturday Night in October, there were lots of people queuing up for miles trying to get in which took longer than expected for an isolated metro city. By the time I reached the top floor, it was PARTY CENTRAL ALL THE WAY (Nightclub). The dance floor was Jam packed full of young and beautiful people(FAR AND WIDE), it was easy to touch up against one another and hard to keep my distance as I tipped over someone's drink on them by accident when I was doing the macarena. The Perth nightlife is a world away from any other capital city in Australia, you can understand why it's so easy to go broke after a BIG NIGHT OUT. Out of all the nightclubs I have been to in Australia, this one (BY FAR) takes the cake and has all the qualities of fanciful Food and Drinks rolled into one.

Really disappointing. We came to check out the new Stories last Friday evening. We went to the Pourhouse bar for a round of drinks before our dinner reservation at Karla. The bar looked very well-stocked but when I asked for an amaretto sour, the bartender said they don't make drinks other than what's on the menu. I definitely saw a bottle of Disaronno amaretto on the shelf and it's a very common cocktail. I also note that the bar was not at all busy. There were 3 or 4 people working at the bar and no line up. Ok whatever. I grab a cider and we head up to Karla for the main meal.

Karla restaurant was pretty nice itself. We are told at seating that we have the table from 6:30 - 8:00. No problem, we don't sit around for ages anyway. However seating was VERY cramped. You can tell they were cramming as many tables in there as they can. Again, I see on the drinks menu that Amaretto is on the liqueurs list so I try again for my amaretto sour request and again I was denied because they don't make drinks not on the menu.

Our table and three other 2 person tables next to us were all seated within minutes of each other. So after a long while (it seemed like there was only one waitress looking after at least half the restaurant or maybe even the whole restaurant), the waitress comes over and takes the orders for the 4 tables in a row. Maybe about 10-15 minutes later we see the neighbouring tables start getting their entrees. Another 15 minutes or so and some tables are receiving more entrees. Keep in mind these are all two person tables so no one is stuck behind a big table.

Meanwhile the fire alarm or test alarm goes off in the restaurant. No one reacts or says anything. This goes on for about 10 annoying minutes and eventually fire trucks are outside. Firemen come up, have a look around then they seem to give it the all clear. Nothing during this whole time was communicated to guests.

I wait a few more minutes and ask the waitress where our entree is. She said she'll check. came back a few minutes later and said it's coming. A few more minutes later and we receive our entrees. Duck cigars were delicious.

Our mains arrived not too much later. Tasmanian salmon portion was pretty small and seemed a bit cold. The massaman curry was very tasty though. We're finishing the last of our mains when I notice both tables on each side of us asking the waitress where their mains are. By the time we finish our mains, it's now 8pm (when they initially said we were supposed to give back the table). But the waitress asks if we'd like to see the dessert menu. At this point, I was pretty sure I'm not coming back here so decided to at least have the full dinner experience. We decide on the pandan trifle, which you would think was premade so we wouldn't have to wait again. Wrong. At 8:25 I flag down the waitress and ask about the trifle. She looked surprised and asked if we haven't gotten it yet?? She walks away and comes back to say it's coming. 30 seconds later it arrives. Just as expected, it's something like they just took out of a fridge. The dessert was ok....

Stories experience in summary: refuses to make a common cocktail even though they have the ingredients for it restaurant service is very slow and disorganized especially considering prices they charge. This isn't vic park or northbridge food was pretty good though it got really stuffy in the restaurant because they cram so many people in there. It was such a nice relief to step outside to fresh air once we finished our meal.

Clearly some teething problems, so if you must try, I suggest wait at least 6 months for them to get their...

Got kicked out for no reason. When asked about why I was kicked out there was no answer. Four security guards approached me, one grabbed my shoulders and I dropped my drink. Female friend asked that if she dropped her drink whether she would be kicked out. Security guard said no. Absolute shambles.

Not one to say racism to something that happens, but I am/was quite coherent, head security guard approved of that as well, but I was still removed from the venue. Only reason I heard was because I dropped a drink, even though 4 security guards were around me grabbing me to move out prior to dropping any drinks. Also saw multiple people drop their drinks throughout the night, so the issue wasn’t consistent.

To be fair the head security guard approached me and apologised for what happened as he knew that it didn’t make any sense, and he admitted that he wouldn’t have kicked me out of the venue. However, the fact that it even happened was a huge disappointment, especially from immigrant...

Please get European DJ. Terrible what I had to listen to. How much to you pay your DJ? I will do better!

And on top your incompetent security refused to let us back in, even after we told him it was an emergency. My friend just got her period, and you're denying her access to a sanitary toilet? What kind of disgraceful service is this?! She stepped out for one second!!! literally ONE SECOND! and you shut the door on her like she's has not just spend time at you Venue; and giving me that "we understand" bullshit. You don't understand anything. We were on the ground floor, the toilet was four steps away!!! and the exit was empty. There was zero reason to block her. This is beyond unacceptable. I totally understand if it's busy but it wasn't! There were no people going in or out! And the security has seen her going out. As soon as she stepped one foot out she turned around and ask of you could go quick to the toilet. And...
