⭐ 5/5 Something French is a true hidden gem on Hay Street, and I honestly can’t recommend it enough. Every time I visit, I’m greeted with genuine warmth and impeccable service — the kind that makes you feel both welcome and cared for. It’s rare to find that level of attentiveness without pretension, but they manage it flawlessly. The food is divine. Every dish I’ve tried has been bursting with flavour, prepared with real skill and care. Whether it’s a rich Duck à l’orange, a comforting Croque Madame, or the Soup of the Day (which never misses — truly, it’s always a delightful surprise), each bite feels like a love letter to French cuisine. Even the bread is extraordinary — not just a side note, but a highlight in itself: deeply flavourful, crusty, and perfectly warm. Their all-day breakfast menu is filled with thoughtful touches (hello, Eggs en Meurette and Pain Perdu!), and the crepes — oh, the crepes! — are delicate and delicious, with just the right balance of texture and sweetness or savouriness. The setting is cosy, unpretentious, and filled with that understated charm that reminds you good food doesn’t need to shout. It just needs to be made with heart — and here, it absolutely is. I truly give this place 11/10. A must-visit for food lovers, Francophiles, or anyone who appreciates flavour done right.

Food: simple menu. Their bread and croissants are good. Dine in and get some takeaway this time. Try lunch menu next visit. Normal presentation. Acceptable prices. Normal portion. Two crepes came together and looked great superficially. Crepes were thin and very crispy, - Madeleine, $2, & Friand, $3.8 : takeaway. I ate hours later. Stiill very good. --- 7.8/10 - Montagnarde Galette, $13.9 --- 7.5/10 - Oceane Galette, $16.9: not much capers. About 2pcs of cooked salmon. The base of crepe was a bitter as burnt --- 6/10 - Hot Chocolate, and Hot Latte: not hot. Just warm. Good portion. Service: always short queue at the front desk. Nice staff. Reasonable waiting time for food. Probably new staff don't know all the products and charge you more. Have to double-check the bill. --- 6.8/10 Venue: Little French cafe. A little bit packed inside. Small outdoor dining area. Some French snacks at a corner. Relaxing vibe. ---7/10

Small cafe in the middle of the CBD. There’s some options for hot breakfast, as well as the bakery options (which were sold out and not replenished while I was there). Service was really slow and it took much longer than expected for the food to be served. Food was quite average, especially given the price. We got a breakfast roll and an avo toast. Quite a few of their food options (including galette and avo toast) were quite oily and had oil dripping out of them, so pick carefully. Breakfast roll was nicely heated up and had some sort of sweet jam inside, which provided contrast with the savoury hashbrown and bacon. The texture of the scrambled egg and avo on the avo toast were both too watery.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Something French, and it was absolutely wonderful! The vibe there is so cozy and charming, with the prettiest decor and soothing music playing in the background.

Let's talk about the pastries - they are seriously amazing! Each bite is like a little taste of heaven, filled with the most delicious flavors. The croissants are so buttery and flaky, the macarons are just the right balance of sweetness, and the tarts are a perfect mix of tangy and sweet. You can tell they use top-notch ingredients and really put their heart into their creations.

And don't even get me started on the coffee - it's fantastic! Whether you like a bold espresso or a creamy latte, they've got something for every coffee lover. The coffee pairs perfectly with their pastries and just elevates the whole experience.

The staff at Something French are just lovely. They are so friendly and attentive, always making sure you have a great time. They give awesome recommendations and you can really see how much they love what they do.

In conclusion, Something French is a must-visit for anyone who enjoys delicious pastries, great coffee, and a charming cafe atmosphere. I already can't wait to go back and try more of their...
