I had been very excited for my best friend’s birthday bottomless brunch scheduled for Saturday 8th July. There were a group of 14 of us going, and we had all paid the $85 (each) in advance, as required.
Unfortunately, my housemate and I tested positive for Covid the day before - on Friday 7th July morning. Both of us were supposed to be attending the bottomless brunch. Throughout the entire day on Friday 7th, we both made numerous attempts to contact Stables, hoping to explore the possibility of rescheduling our 2 spots for a future bottomless brunch with a different group of friends, once we had recovered from Covid.
It is important to note that we never intended nor desired a refund; we simply wished to transfer the reservation for our 2 spots. (My friend’s birthday bottomless brunch was still going ahead as normal with the 12 others attending, it is just the 2 spots we were hoping to transfer).
Despite our persistent efforts, we were unable to reach Stables until Saturday morning. To my disappointment, I was confronted with the most disheartening customer service experience I have ever encountered. The lady was extremely hostile and rude over the phone, and outright refused my request to transfer the funds for a future booking, citing their policy of requiring a 48-hour notice. I explained that we had been trying to contact them for over 24 hours with no luck, and said we could show them the call history to prove it if they required.
Their response was that we should either attend the bottomless brunch, even in our heavily symptomatic state with Covid, or forfeit the $85 altogether.
Given the gravity of the situation, it was concerning that attending the brunch with Covid would pose a significant risk of spreading the virus to the other 12 attendees plus others at the venue.
We had found ourselves torn between two unsatisfactory options: jeopardising the health and safety of others or losing $85. We decided to go with the latter, and not attend the brunch, as to not make others sick, meaning we lost the $85 each, and were not even able to put that money towards booking another bottomless brunch with stables in the future.
In light of the circumstances, I sincerely hope that our disappointment serves as a warning for others who may consider engaging with Stables.
I tried to post this review on Saturday 8th July, following my phone call with Stables, however the review still hasn’t been posted...
Read moreTonight myself and a group of friends went to stables bar for a drink prior to going to Elton John We had a couple of cocktails and a couple of rounds of drinks but one of the managers came up to us and asked us to move off our table as he had a group of people that needed our table I asked the manager why were we were being moved off our table as there was no reserve sign on the table so we felt we should be able to stay there and finish our drinks but the answer was no He gave us the choice to move inside to a different table or just move on When I told the manager that I felt this was bad customer service he quoted you have only bought two rounds of drinks and a plate of chicken wings and the people coming onto our table would spend much more This is the third time this week that I have been to stables bar as I’ve had lunch with a friend a Christmas catch up and tonight I’m horrified and exceptionally disappointed that where you stand or sit and whether you are made welcome depends on how much money you spend so Mr manager We actually spent $80 on drinks which included cocktails and beers and yes the chicken wings but I will not be coming back because you obviously prefer a clientele with more money and disposable income then I have and my friends have Such a disappointing response from the manager he didn’t seem to give a toss about us only about the amount of money he took over the counter on the night Shame on you stables bar and I may actually think twice before I go back to your venue even though your food is lush I don’t like being treated...
Read moreWe recently attended the Dining in the Dark event, organised by Fever.
We had a great time. It was an experience to remember.
I've been to Stable before for drinks, but the Dinner in the Dark was my first time to try their meals. Great food!
The event coordinator of Dining in the Dark, she was so amazingly stunning! Such good vibes. We loved that she walked around the table and chatted to all the guests. She is simply a darling.
The staff of Dining in the Dark are all very attentive. Super helpful and took care of all of us. Such professionals.
The food is simply divine. The entree is OK. However, the main meal and dessert are both freaking awesome! Perfectly plated and tasted divine!
The bar downstairs served me Lychee Nojito. Perfect. Tasty and refreshing. There's even 3 skewered Lychee in my glass. However, when we moved above for the Dining in the Dark, I ordered another Lychee Nojito, and it didn't taste as good as the one given to me in the lower bar. Plus, they used dried lemon as decoration, not Lychees. I was disappointed that it wasn't consistent with the mocktail.
The event was well organised. We were laughing and really enjoyed it. Another minor feedback was about the noise from downstairs. Obviously it is a pub, there was a live music. However, the Dining in the Dark is meant to be more romantic and ambience to be more relaxing. It was a little bit hard to focus on your senses to really enjoy the food while blindfolded because the noise from downstairs was too loud.
Overall, it was not a bad experience. I'd recommend it...
