This interesting little coffee shop has something that I would call “a peculiar seating arrangement”. They have a little outside terrace, indoor seating for small groups and these odd side by side two people’s seat with a wooden plank separating the legs so if you’re on a date and thinking of being romantic with your legs, this type of seating will remind you that “you shall not pass”. Perfect for solo dining, not for a date and good for a meet up with friends. The side by side seats are also quite awkwardly positioned too close to the till which feels like….a choice but hey, it’s a certain vibe and esthetic choice. The food? Heavenly. Wow. I ordered and recommended the ‘Benedict Chicken’. It was so good that I could have ordered a second one. Hear me out. I don’t like poached eggs, yuck, but their homemade marinated chicken with miso-hollandaise sauce really did what needed to be done to convert my taste palette. So it’s on the pricier side but worth the flavory goodness. The service is good, fast depending on peak hours and what your order because for fluffy pancakes there is written on the menu that it can take up to 20 minutes during peak hours so keep that in mind. Overall I definitely recommend going there to eat, not to work on your laptop because laptops are not allowed, to dine solo or with a group but no more than 4.

I recently visited Kafei Dansaert and left feeling quite disappointed. Despite plenty of empty tables, the staff seemed disorganised and left us waiting awkwardly before seating us. When I finally ordered an iced matcha latte, it tasted almost entirely of milk, with hardly any matcha flavour. Although the waitress offered to add an espresso shot, that wouldn’t have addressed the lack of matcha taste. She later mentioned that whole milk can overpower the matcha—something customers should really be told when ordering. Even after paying extra for more matcha, the drink remained grainy and poorly whisked. On top of that, there was confusion during payment, and I was charged more than agreed for the extra matcha. The toilet was also very unclean, which was disappointing given the café’s cozy, trendy vibe.

New branch of Kafei. The matcha and chai latte of Kafei are probably the best in Brussels. The fluffy pancakes are very good, as well as the other options on the menu. The brunch menu is nice but then you have to add extra 3 or 4 euro for four out of the six options of the fluffy pancakes, which eventually makes it way overpriced for brunch. The staff was nice but still needs to improve. There were mistakes in our orders, and many items we didn't order were added to our bill, so luckily we checked the bill and pointed out to the staff. I guess it's the fact that the place is new and the staff is not yet familiar enough with the system. Hopefully next time will be a better experience.
