L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele — Restaurant in Brussels

it pains me to make this review, but I felt I was not treated very well. I ordered the margherita with vegan mozzarella, as per the menu, and found myself a margherita with literally tofu cut into pieces and thrown on top. when I asked for an explanation, since I couldn't quite understand at the time whether it was really tofu, I was told it was “another type of vegan cheese” because “every now and then they use a different one”. ok, tofu is technically soya cheese, but really it would have cost nothing to admit that the vegan mozzarella was over, I would have been sorry but that was it. I felt I was being taken for a ride, if a person with an omnivorous diet orders a pepperoni pizza, and pepperoni is not there, he is not served a ham pizza saying it is another type of pepperoni. the poor waiter, evidently embarrassed, had to juggle between my requests for an explanation and the manager, who didn't even bother to come and talk to me, even though he was only a few metres away. it was really unpleasant behaviour, I was disappointed by this attitude. as if a vegan customer was a second-class customer... and i say this reluctantly. and in the end they even wanted to charge me as if it had been a normal margherita, not even a marinara. really...

Eat pizza here. Just do it. Why? Perhaps most importantly it's the best pizza in Brussels. It's run by Italians who clearly care about pizza. The dough is thin and wide, and melts in your mouth. The toppings are great quality. Selection of drinks fantastic. Beautiful venue. Outside seating and even if you eat inside, there's an open front and open back in the summer. Cozy in the winter. Not too noise, not too quiet. More important for my part (which puts it head and shoulders above other good pizza places in Brussels) - the service. Anyone who lives in or has visited Brussels knows how there's pretty much no service anywhere whatsoever. Here is exceptional by even the highest standards. You get welcomed in by friendly staff, you get your drinks order right away, you get fed within 15 mins, even when it's busy. I have been coming here and have been now for a few times but this time the food was so underwhelming.

Last time I was here was about 2 months ago and they had amazing burrata with incredible sauce. I went with friends who were visiting and I told them they would eat the best burrata ever but it was sooo underwhelming. This time it had no sauce and was plain rucola, tomato and burrata.

The pizza was okay but it wasn’t as good as the last times. I would say the quality and taste of this food is depreciating.

Place itself is amazing, atmosphere is also great and service is 10/10.
