The summary first - perfectly adequate for a bite but double check you're charged the correct price when paying. Now the long version: had dinner here with a number of British colleagues. They seemed pleased enough with the mussels. My carbonnades were on the chewy side but good. The waiter was all evening super attentive and professional. I needed to leave early so asked to pay before the others. Im presented with the electronic machine by a different waiter than the one who's waited upon us and without bill. I asked to see the bill and notice i was overcharged (by 3eur). I assumed a human error but tell my colleagues i won't leave a tip (which unlike a service charge is entirely discretionary. Staff salary is included in the regular bill and whilst tips are welcome, they are as a result much more modest than in the Uk). The same waiter then swings by and states sth to the effect that on this occasion i don't need to worry about service charge. I tell him the service charge is not something he is by law allowed to add to the bill. Clearly his intervention had been intended for my colleagues, in the hope they might leave one upon departure. Our original waiter eventually returned and was genuinely apologetic and offered us a digestive - one of my colleagues took us up on it. I'm going to assume this is all down to human errors, tiredness and some lost in translation and so i wouldn't recommend against it or avoid it allt all costs But equally you won't see me go out of my way to recommend it and whilst yiu should absolutely enjoy if you go and tip the staff if they do a good job, do a double check when charged and don't buy into any tale that a service charge is also expected. Nb: adding a picture of our receipt given my review has gone surprisingly invisible on Google.

I had a portion of mussels and a beer (Kerel IPA). The mussels were ok, although I had stomach issues later that day and had to throw up 🤮 after not being able to sleep, most likely caused by the mussels. I didn't like the beer very much. The waiter was trying to be polite, but he was rushing me to order for some reason even though there were lots of empty tables. He was standing over me, then trying to make small talk while I was trying to decide which variant of mussels to order. The other waiter was constantly trying to convince the passers-by to dine there, sometimes standing right next to me, which I found awkward. All in all not the most pleasant experience. I didn't intend to write the full review initially, just rate it, but since the owner alleged it was a fake review, here it is. They also seem to try to discredit the other bad reviews as fake, which just shows their attitude towards criticism.

Just happened to come across this bistro walking past. We decided to have lunch there because it reminded us of a Parisian cafe. We ordered the fixed lunch — the beef stew, pommes frites, and chocolate mousse and waffle for dessert. The beef stew was a little tough and a little sweet but delicious nonetheless. The frites were fantastic as was the garlic bread. The desserts — especially waffle — were utterly fantastic! The only issue I had was with the service which bordered on comically rude. One waitress was particularly rude. At one point, as we were halfway finished with our stew, I looked over and saw our order of frites sitting on a service counter about six feet away. So, we waited and then finally asked the waitress if they were ours. She answered, “Yes. Oh, you want them?” No, we’ll just look at them from the table. 🤨🤨🤨

I came here because it claimed to have the best mussels in Brussels. Maybe it did, I haven’t had much experience with mussels. But the service and fries are probably some of the worst in Brussels.

When I approached the restaurant to look at the lunch special, I was immediately hounded. Give me time to read and decide if I even want to eat here. When I sat down, I wasn’t given nearly enough time to look up in the menu what each item in the lunch special was before I had to order.

I got the fried mussels and the white wine mussels. Both were decent but were also served to me at the speed of a snail. If only they were as eager to serve the food as they were to make the sale.

The fries were not cooked all the way through and the insides had the texture of raw potato. I also had to ask the server three times to take the fries away before he actually did.

Near the end of my meal, there was a wasp that kept flying around me. The server said that the mussels attract wasps and laughed at me because I was visibly scared of being stung.

Staff acted unprofessionally (they were constantly talking to each other and joking around right by the customers), and the restaurants’ responses to negative reviews...
