During our quest to discover culinary gems, we ventured to Rugbyman No 1, lured by its appealing menu and favorable ratings. However, our experience revealed it to be more akin to a touristic attraction than a gastronomic delight.
The menu, while enticing on paper, translated into dishes that, although competently executed, did not align with the expectations set by the pricing. For a modest selection of starters, two main courses, and a bottle of wine, the bill amounted to approximately 160 euros. This pricing seemed excessive given the quality of the fare. Notably, the lobster dish, a typically luxurious offering, was disappointingly small and lacked flavor and succulent meat characteristic of well-prepared lobster.
Service was another area of concern. The waiter’s haste and apparent eagerness to expedite our ordering process detracted from the dining experience, which should ideally be relaxed and savored.
Adding to the peculiarity of our visit was the confusion arising from two competing establishments bearing the same name, situated merely meters apart. An accidental mix-up in our reservation led to persistent and rather unsettling phone calls from one of the establishments until the early hours of the 2am in the morning, an experience both humorous and disconcerting.
In summary, while Rugbyman No 1 holds promise with its attractive menu and ambiance, the overall experience fell short of expectations, marred by disproportionate pricing and a less than satisfactory...
Read moreThe service is really bad. They gave us menu and to the table next to us, they also gave a daily menu. As we had ordered from the menu, our table next to us got three course menu for half the price (daily offer) we paid for the mussels. We asked can we change because we didn’t get the daily menu and they didn’t let us change the order, because we didn’t ask for the menu. Asked how could we have known to ask another menu if they already gave us menu, they said all the restaurants have another menu and we should have know and asked for it. Very unpolite and client unfriendly, tricking tourists. And mussels we got (Thailand mussels) were poured over with tried oregano and did not taste as “Thailand”, killed all the taste...
Read moreDid order the Thailand mussles, but there was so much oregano and no lemongrass taste. The service was’t good.
Response: I orderwd mussles and my friend tried them - so it was Thai mussles per one person. Yes, we wanted to change the order, because they didn’t tell us about the lunch menu speciality. We were okay, that we couldn’t change it, but that doesn’t mean the food was good and it is not okay to gang up on us. There was so much oregano. The fries were tasteless and too soft. I guess it is not polite to say to the costumers to be at home, when you are on a holiday and want to enjoy good...
