If you like meat, cheese or beer, this is a great spot. Food was tasty and served fast. Prices were very reasonable and it didn’t feel like an overpriced spot for only tourists - which there are plenty of in Brussels. We got two charcuterie plates - 1 meat and 1 cheese and both were better quality and more filling than expected. I ordered a beer and the waitress, knowing we were tourists, recommended a different option that was actually cheaper for the same volume and which she said tasted better. It didn’t disappoint!
The atmosphere is a bit kitschy but in the best way, and the restaurant was very clean. Our server was very attentive and kind, and she spoke good English. It was a friendly environment for families, couples, business people, anyone really. We struck up a conversation with two nearby business execs from Georgia (country) and ended up sharing a drink together. The restaurant just has that kind of welcoming vibe where it feels like even strangers can be friends.
It is on a charming, small street and all the outdoor tables were unsurprisingly full as it was a beautiful summer evening. Even though we had to sit inside, we were placed by a window and had an opportunity to hear and experience local street musicians playing music for a crowd. Overall just a nice experience, fun interior, good hearty food after a day of travel, and the perfect way to start a trip...
Read moreExceptional beers and a magical atmosphere—you can truly feel the history in a place like this. The walls are adorned with photos from another era, and every corner of the pub is decorated with unique, characteristic items. The service is incredibly fast, and the menu is fairly intuitive, with an extensive selection of beers to suit every taste.
The food selection is classic, just what you’d expect from a great pub. I highly recommend the platter, which comes with a quarter wheel of cheese and an entire salami—both were absolutely delicious. The bread and butter were also excellent, which isn’t surprising in this region, even if the butter was packaged.
If I had to point out one minor negative, it would be the waiter. While he was extremely professional and impressively quick, he consistently spoke to us in French, even though we were speaking English. The only time he switched to English was to ask us to pay by card instead of cash because he didn’t have change. We actually had a laugh about this classic French-leaning behavior.
That said, on our second visit two days later, he not only remembered us but also gave us the same table we had before—small gestures like this really showcase both the professionalism of the staff and the overall quality of the pub. Truly an...
Read moreThis is a timeless Belgium bar that is funky, unique & oozes character. We stopped in for a beer while exploring the area & had no clue what we walked into when we first entered. It takes your eyes a moment to really take it ALL IN! So much stuff hanging off the ceilings, in every nook & cranny, hanging on the walls… you name it. The photos on the walls are historical photos from Belgium, signs hang on the walls… and puppets. Yes, dozens of old puppets hang from the ceiling. If you have a thing about old puppets… don’t say I didn’t warn you!
I love a good place full of character & local charm & this place IS IT! We ordered some local Belgium beers & the waiter came out to do a dance as he poured it in the glass. Just solid good energy here. Really impressive selection of Belgium beers - too many to pick. So I went with his recommends.
We enjoyed our beers & chatted. It was hard to pay attention to conversation as my eyes just kept soaking in & finding new things to check out… solid chill spot! Great beers. The most eclectic bar I’ve ever been too!!! There is so much stuff to look at I wanted to learn all the stories...
