The ONLY reason I gave this place 3/5 stars is because 1) our dinner service was great before any of the below events had occurred and 2) our server Helen along with two other employees literally helped save my mother’s life. The missing 2/5 star is due to the incompetence of the so called manager.
My mom and I came here Sunday July 21st for dinner. To make a long story short I had ordered the raspberry mojito which she tried and liked so she had decided to order one herself. After three sips of her drink she started sneezing like crazy and her eyes got very watery. She passed me her drink to finish it but when I looked in the glass I saw not one but TWO hairs, both much too short to be ours. Five minutes go by and my mom who had never had any allergies in her life (other than to cats) is having a full anaphylactic reaction. We told Helen and she rushed to call 911.
Some big guy came over to our table. He introduced himself as the manager/owner. He was completely incompetent and unhelpful. The 911 dispatch that both I and Helen were on the phone with kept telling us not to move my mom. The manager kept trying to get my mom from the back of the restaurant to a bench outside. The woman couldn’t breathe and he clearly cared more about not drawing too much attention to our table and getting her out of the establishment. He continued to try and ask her questions as her lips are blue and she’s gone completely pale. That’s like asking a drowning person if they can swim. As she’s in a full body sweat and asking when the ambulance was going to arrive he kept telling her she looked fine. This was after he had told us he was a retired cop. I think the closest he’s ever been to a cop is maybe dressing up as one for Halloween one year. My mom is a RN in one of the busiest hospitals in Toronto. She wouldn’t ask for an ambulance if it wasn’t urgent. The hospital confirmed later that she was in anaphylactic shock so thank you to the manager for being a complete ahole.
The only thing that kept this disaster from completely falling apart was the fact that our server and a hostess didn’t hesitate to call 911. The ambulance took forever but that’s not fault of our any of the employees.
To the manager, I really hope you learn some people skills. If this is how you treat customers that are having an actual crisis in your establishment then I seriously encourage you to reconsider your career field and maybe stay retired.
Huge thank you to our server Helen, the older female employee with red hair and the young hostess with dark hair and the...
Read moreWow wow wow! How can we give more than five stars?! When we entered (around 8pm on Friday October 1 2021) the hostess was so kind and we saw her throughout the night walking around looking happy and laughing with other staff. It just seemed like the staff got along well and helped each other out with their tables. The restaurant itself has a modern yet relaxed look and atmosphere. Everything was clean and I saw people cleaning/sanitizing a lot throughout our meal. We’ve come to Niagara several times and can’t believe we never tried it before. It’s for sure one of the best restaurants here. I’m just sad I live six hours away and not closer!
For the best part the food was 11/10!!! The menu is huge and everything looks so good it’s hard to narrow down. Our waitress Christiana who was so lovely, said that it’s a Canadian chain and everything is made fresh in house. We were super excited to try the food and the whole restaurant smelled amazing! We didn’t wait long everything came out in perfect timing. We got chicken tenders which are breaded to order and they were so juicy and fresh. The breading was crispy and seasoned and wasn’t too thick. Fries were fantastic and the sauces (Buffalo, ranch, and chipotle) were awesome too. The NY chicken was AMAZING I kept taking bites off my husbands plate I loved it. Calamari was fresh and light - everything was absolutely delicious we were so pleased! If you go to Niagara ON you 100% should come here!!!! There’s a reason why this is one of the only restaurants in Niagara with reviews above four stars. As for the non-alcoholic drinks they weren’t the best but we didn’t mind that much. My husband got the kombucha drink and I got the ginger raspberry. However this is most likely just due to our taste buds and not the actual drinks itself. You need to try the food here!!!! I seriously have nothing bad to say.
This may have been one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been too, not just in Niagara. Honestly the prices weren’t even that high for Niagara - I’m not sure what other reviewers are talking about. Even with an 18% tip we paid $100 and got 2 drinks, 2 meals, and an appetizer. For the portion and quality of the food it was not pricey at all. Finally, a very big and special shout out to Christiana our waitress :) We could tell she was busy but she was so kind and helpful. The service was very fast and she always checked in. She was so bright and cheery and we loved speaking with her. Somebody give this...
Read moreHad an extremely positive and pleasant experience dining in at Turtle Jack’s Niagara Falls. The atmosphere is casual, yet classy and family friendly. The front entrance has a bar with high top tables and the back has booths along the window side. Parking wasn’t a problem for us as it was connected to the Radisson and a parking attendant permitted us to park free of charge for dinner. Our waitress was sweet and timely with our order and drinks. My husband ordered the Blackened Braza (fish) and I ordered the signature Bison Meatloaf; my older son ordered off the kids menu - pizza and lobster bisque. I would highly recommend both entrees. I thought the Bison Meatloaf was a little heavy and on the saltier side, but it’s meatloaf and to be expected. Everything was well presented when served. So if you are looking for a heavier “meat and potatoes” kind of meal, this is the one for you. For a lighter choice, the Blackened Braza was nicely prepared over vegetables and creamy mashed potatoes. Next time, I think I’ll order that dish instead because it was light and perfectly blackened with seasoning. The owner came by to check in on us - what professionalism! She helped clear our table and asked how our meal was. We even talked about the Braza fish and she said we could purchase it locally (but not in the states). She was so friendly and personable, much appreciated for guests visiting for a quick weekend trip. Turns out the restaurant is family run and they are experiencing staff shortages (similar to the states). The owner made it memorable for us by taking the time to ask us about our experience and check in. My family was in the restaurant business for over 40+ years and there is no substitute for this type of personal interaction with customers. It’s genuine. It’s hardly seen nowadays in customer service and builds customer loyalty. Kudos to this restaurant and its staff. We will be returning in the future and will spread the positive experience to all of our friends, family and social media. ...
