The Eagle’s Nest Marine Pub, or “The Nest” as locals in the ocean village of Ucluelet refer to it as, brings a winning combination together — stunning views through large windows, excellent friendly service, reasonable prices — with super food specials, three nights of the week— a daily happy hour from 3 to 6pm, tasty meals from its pub- style offerings to its more substantial dishes on its menu, & well- kept pool tables patrons can use free of charge. Hard to beat that line up! The Nest is located close to the ocean, just steps from the ocean village’’s working inner harbor, where one can see eagles swooping down, to sea lions taking up places in the water, to whales during the whale season when they migrate Northward. The Sunday January night a friend & I went to catch both its super special burger —- where 4 of its regular burgers are on @ 15$ — & its HH — where its craft beers on tap are 5$ a pint — we caught, too, the sight of a beautiful new moon. Alexa, on bar duty @ the Nest’s spacious bar, welcomed us warmly & was attentive to our needs for the hour-plus we were there happily siping & supping. Thank you Alexa — & Jo & evening chef, Irvin, & manager Norma. I had its IOzzard beef burger @ 15$ & two Hoyne IPAs @ 5$ a pint with my total bill, before tip, coming to only 25$. It also offers a veggie burger @ the special 15$ price. This winning combination draws in locals & visitors...
Read moreI am a commercial fisherman/woman. I come to this area often. The service in this place is terrible. We’ve given them multiple chances to hopefully do better before leaving this review.
Not only is the establishment understaffed, the service they do have is unwilling to even smile or acknowledge customers as they walk in. Today for example we waited at our table for 25 minutes before going up to the bar to ask for service. The excuse made was “I didn’t see you walk in.”
We still waited another 20 minutes before walking out. Another group of individuals walked in, and before they could sit down the waitress yelled “do not sit there until it’s clean wait ten minutes I’m busy.” The group decided to leave after being aggressively yelled at like it was their mistake to sit down at a public restaurant.
The establishment was at less than half capacity, and coming from someone who has worked in the customer service industry for over twenty years I am fully aware of the simple things you can do to ensure a customer is acknowledged. Even if you are full tables.
Absolutely will never return even though I have been eating at this restaurant for a very long time. The food is great but the service cannot be excused. It’s unfortunate because it’s most likely an owner or management issue.
Hope it...
Read moreGood food(prawns are GREAT), service left a lot to be desired. Waitress took our orders and didn't ask what we wanted to drink, had to flag her down and ask. (Free refills on pop but not iced tea, states this on the menu but still bummed me out.) After she delivered our food she didn't stop and ask how the food was (like any eating establishment does) nor asked us if we wanted more to drink, next time she stopped was to take our plates. When she took our plates didn't ask if we enjoyed the meal, wanted anything else or wanted the bill. Assumed she would bring us the bill.....but after 10 minutes i called over another waitress (i think the first one was off shift now?) to ask for the bill. 10 more minutes go by until a PATRON asks if we are still waiting, then informs me that we will have to continue to harass the serving staff til they bring the bill or go up to the bar and wait. First time in my life i have not tipped... TLDR: Just order...
