I'm super bummed about this place. Contrary to what Google says, it isn't a restaurant - food options are limited. Further - it is quite overpriced. I paid $40 plus tip for 2 12oz lattes, 2 yogurts, and a cookie. The 2 yogurts were vastly different tasting as well as had very different granola/fruit/yogurt ratios. My cookie was rock hard except for a small bit in the middle which was chewy. I also asked if I could order a side - and was told I couldn't order off menu. I said I wasn't trying to order off menu, just order a side because they are smaller and my toddler didn't need a whole breakfast sandwich. This isn't allowed. The cashier also seemed flippant, and entitled and was not overly pleasant to speak with. The barista making my drink did beautiful latte art, which I complimented, and was very friendly. Her energy was awesome. There was also no where to sit inside - however, I don't fault the establishment for being so busy; just wanted to let future patrons know to not go in the morning (10a) and expect to be able...
Read more16.09.2024 around 10:00am we stopped at your bistro. We ordered 2 ham croissants and 2 cinnamon rolls and 1 lemon roll. We were served by a clean shaven woman and she was very unpleasant. Since she put the savory pastries in the same box as the sweet pastries, I asked her to split them, one box of savory and one of sweet pastries. I didn't want cinnamon icing on the ham croissants. She got very upset and started stuffing the individual cookies into little paper bags and literally throwing them on top of each other in the box. I pointed out to her that all the frosting on the rolls was on the paper bag. Annoyed, she brought new cakes with the comment that the boxes were expensive. Please point out to the staff that it is not unusual to request that savory and sweet pastries be packaged separately. Your staff is fond of saying "that's how we do it in Montreal". We don't do it that way in Europe, we don't like cinnamon icing on our ham...
Read moreThe Break, is a wonderful new addition to Ucluelet’s culinary landscape. It opened this month on June 19 & is open from 8 am to 3 pm, & closed on Wednesday & Thursdays. Ukee, as locals refer to this ocean village they call home, certainly caught a break with the opening of The Break. It offers delicious pastries to start the day& which includes sticky buns & Cardamom Knots, both in the price range of 5$.’ Get there early before they sell out. Stay for lunch which could include shucked oysters, as was the case today. Six Fanny Bay oysters were 24$. The Break, has a seasonly based menu, which can change daily depending on the bounty of nature. Whatever the season, all its food is made in-house & with love, I was told. Looking at the offerings,I believe that to be true. It is co-owned by Bri & her partner, Ross. They are a delightful duo with an accomplished culinary...
