Visited on a weekday at 1130, thought it would be opened but waited till 1145 before the restaurant. It was drizzling so had to bear the cold and queue in the rain as the queue was pretty long. Despite being long, I was able to get into the restaurant as the first batch before all the tables were occupied. The queue was quite systematic as there was a separate queue for takeaway which I understood you could call and order in advance and you be given a queue number or take your order on the spot for takeaway. Heard so much about this place because have seen lots of IG reels on the big pork chop so decided to come here and try. Guess its because of the IG reels the place is more crowded now and there are more tourists than locals. The menu is only in Chinese on the walls, but I guess there shouldn't be much difficulty for tourists because most people only come here for the curry pork chop rice and probably also the stir fried beef noodles. So I ordered the curry pork chop rice and an iced milk tea. Didn't take long before the dish was served. Oh my it definitely looks humongous the videos really don't do justice to the dish. As you can see the pork chop was so big several slices actually fell off the plate! I have to say it tastes as good as it looks and the pork chop was hot and crispy throughout, even when I poured the curry over it. It was so big that I could just be full just by eating the pork chop and not the rice. I wondered what was the correct or best way of eating the combination but I decided to pour the entire curry on the dish. It felt good but somehow lacking because the portion of curry wasn't a lot it didn't get to cover the pork chop and the rice, so I ended up finishing the pork chop and the little areas where there was curry on the rice. I didn't actually think much about it and thought the dish was delicious up till the point of payment then I realized it was actually on the expensive side. It's a dish in a local shop but the price is more to like a dish in a restaurant in a shopping mall. Nevertheless I thought it's still worth the try and quite sure its worth the money because high chance this has to be shared between 2 people at least. I even saw people sharing together and then requested for takeaway for the remaining unfinished food. Not much you can order in the day. I will definitely return and would visit for dinner next time to try the side...
Read moreWORST RESTAURANT EVER IN MY WHOLE LIFE. I seldom leave reviews, good or bad, but I had to this time - I believe that already tells you something.
If you don't speak Cantonese, you will never be "served." Was literally kicked out for just asking when the food will be served after waiting for almost half an hour (they were constantly serving dishes for the takeaway orders and none to the customers inside). Doing so, the chef was even yelling that I am being impolite but guess who's actually being impolite? Someone who'd been patiently waiting for long enough time and simply wondered what to expect next? Or someone literally yelled and physically intimidated the other? Apparently, some time before I asked, a person sitting on the next table, who came in later than I did (thus waited less), asked similar question in Canto, and nothing happened back then.
Also, while they have long queue, they don't care what happens while waiting, whether someone cuts in the line or etc. A big group of people sent just one person to take seats for the whole group for over 30 mins and the rest came in just on time to enter and they were just allowed to do so. Complained for those ill-mannered guests being served first while patiently waiting other guests being ignored, the staffs rather treated me as if I am the problematic one.
Been here before several times. They may serve some OK dishes at good price, especially considering their generous amount, but that never worth to be...
Read moreI did not realize this restaurant was so hyped, and I'm glad we happened to arrive there before opening at 6:30 because there was a line. Luckily, my group of 6 was able to get a table in the first round (we were the last ones to be seated before the restaurant was full) but everyone else in front of us were single people or small groups of 2-3.
To be honest, I had no idea what to expect on the menu. We got most of the recommended dishes, such as curry, stir fried beef noodles, and the pork chop, along with some choi and steamed chicken. The curry was very spicy and for me, it didn't have any flavour except the spiciness, but I still enjoyed the potatoes. The pork chop was surprisingly juicy, soft, and ultra crispy, and they cut it into slices for you, although there will still be bones. The steamed lotus leaf chicken was mediocre; while it was juicy and silky, it was quite bland and we could've went without ordering it. Unfortunately, we found out they use peanut oil to stir fry the noodles and my sister and I were disappointed since we're allergic. Apparently it was yummy tho, and at least the waitress was very patient and kind with us and seemed to care that we had an allergy, which I haven't noticed at other restaurants here. Overall the portions were huge and for 6 people, we should've ordered maybe just 4 dishes...
