Zoi, with its trendy ambiance and inviting scene, had the potential to be a vibrant dining destination. However, my recent visit left me underwhelmed and disappointed by the quality of the food and overall dining experience.
Upon entering Zoi, I was captivated by the chic decor and stylish atmosphere. The modern furnishings, ambient lighting, and artful displays created an impressive first impression. The restaurant's vibe seemed perfect for social gatherings or casual get-togethers.
Regrettably, the positive aspects end there. As I perused the menu, my excitement quickly waned. The limited food selection was surprising, and even more so was the lack of variety in the dishes offered. This already set off a red flag for me, hinting at possible issues with the kitchen's creativity and commitment to culinary excellence.
As I finally settled on a dish, I eagerly awaited my order. Sadly, my enthusiasm quickly turned to dismay when the food arrived. The presentation was unremarkable, and the flavors lacked the depth and complexity I had hoped for. It felt like a missed opportunity to impress and delight the taste buds. The ingredients appeared to be of mediocre quality, and the dishes lacked finesse and attention to detail.
The service was adequate but far from exceptional. The staff seemed disengaged and unenthusiastic, which added to the overall lackluster experience. Empty plates lingered on the table, and requests for refills or additional condiments were met with delays and indifference.
To add to the disappointment, the pricing was rather high for the quality of the food offered. It's disheartening to pay a premium for an experience that falls short of expectations.
In conclusion, while Zoi may have an appealing ambiance and a cool scene, the subpar food quality and lack of culinary passion overshadow these positive aspects. For food enthusiasts seeking an extraordinary dining experience, Zoi is not the place to go. Perhaps the management can focus on revamping the menu, improving ingredient sourcing, and reinvigorating the culinary team to elevate the dining experience to match the chic atmosphere. Until then, I will be hesitant to revisit or recommend Zoi to friends and fellow food...
Read moreSome issues with service and food. No tap water available, €8.50 per bottled water. Vodka martini served in a plastic cup that didn't hold a chilled temperature very long. No wine cheaper than €65. We had a Croatian Riesling which was delicious and kept very chilled by our server for the duration of the bottle. Had the 7 course tasting. Some great, some average. Bread course okay not extremely impressive bread. Crudo very tasty, well seasoned and appropriate spice level. Tomato water very lovely. Octopus fantastic. Rich, warm and seasoned fantastically. Egg & Truffle dish very nice. Heartwarming and executed very nicely. Monkfish disappointing. The fish was sous vide which is fine but it was slightly overcooked which is strange considering the cooking technique. The sauce and pureé were excellently seasoned and very rich. Nice dish just a shame about the fish. Personally I prefer monkfish pan fried with a lovely golden crust. My beef was disappointing. Fillet was served medium well with a weak sear. Another guest received their fillet rare. It would have been nice if we all got medium rare as was expected. The garnish was lovely, sauce very delicious and mushrooms were perfect. Vegetarian course at this moment was a pappardelle which sounded lovely but was totally bland and unenjoyable. Bloom was nice palette cleanser but was served in a warm bowl so the gelato was half melted by the time it arrived. Amber dessert was well executed and delicious. A nice end to the meal. The view is incredible but the atmosphere is lacking because the only music is the audible dance music from the street. Sometimes there may have been a long wait between courses. 3 hours for 7 courses. Beautiful setting. Friendly service although a bit underwhelming at times. This restaurant is a bit more style over substance. Don't go unless you are quite quite wealthy and won't mind an average meal for a...
Read moreOne of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.
We had a reservation and were seated promptly, but then waited over 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order. When the server finally arrived, she asked what we wanted to drink - but we had never been given a drink menu.
We ordered a la carte and our waitress was condescending about it - she said the portions were very small and that we needed to order a lot.
Service throughout the night was confusing and disorganized. After eating the bread, our silverware was replaced - only for someone else to come back minutes later and replace it again for no reason. They also replaced everyone’s plate except for one person who was sitting against a wall, making it harder to reach. They didn’t say anything or return to swap the plate, even though it was clearly dirty and the meal had ended. It was very weird and we couldn’t help but laugh.
The pacing of the food was completely off. Our mains came before our appetizers, and when we pointed it out, no one apologized. The appetizers eventually arrived, after finishing our meals and one had fish scales in it.
When I asked where the bathroom was, our waitress told me it was behind the wine bar. I walked in that direction only to be stopped by the bartender, who pointed me in the complete opposite direction.
The food wasn’t memorable, and certainly not worth the over €300 bill. We had originally planned to order dessert, but after our experience, we decided to leave and find another place instead.
Would not recommend - there are far better places in this price range with much...
