I'm only giving it a 2 stars because of the location and atmosphere, otherwise it would be a 1 star. My pizza was wet, I had to roll it like a shawarma wrap but the cheese and toppings still kept falling off. The tiramisu was worse, literally the worst I had. It was soaked in liquid that it tasted like water. Then they didn't give me any silverware or paper napkins despite it being not at a busy hour. If that was the end I wouldn't have left this review because I typically only leave reviews if the experience was exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. At check out, they told me they don't accept cards. There were no signs about this and they never mentioned it in advance. And if you pay in euros their conversion rate was more than 10% worse than what I would get if I were to use my credit card. In addition they didn't have enough change so they wanted to return 1 euro less. At that point I asked my euros back and decided to go get cash instead. I had to leave my ID card with them because otherwise they wouldn't let me go. The closest ATM charges a crazy high 6.91 euros processing fee for an equivalent of a 16 euros withdraw, when I realized it I had to stop the transaction and go back to pay in euros in cash, which I exchanged from my home currency. In the end I paid about 20% more for bad food and bad services. It was really not a good experience. I should have avoided this "Italian" pizzeria the moment I saw Hawaiian pizza...
Read moreTerrible experience. Ordered Ginger Tea that ended up being ginger boiled in water with some honey on the side (Pictured). When I asked for actual TEA to be added I was given more sliced ginger by a very rude waiter. Finally had to ask for a tea bag that I was charged extra for. Spaghetti was clearly pre-cooked and reheated when I ordered because it was like eating shoelaces. Worst Gnocchi I've had in my life, again unfrozen and heated, felt like I was chewing through kneaded flour. Pizza was the only thing that was ACCEPTABLE, even though that also left much to be desired. The wait staff is a bunch of very young boys and girls who don't know what they're doing, are extremely rude and are more interested in having their own conversations than serving the customers. After all of this we were charged a SERVICE CHARGE of 20CZK PER PERSON. I can't recommend anyone to go to this place if you've ever had Italian food in your life. I never post bad reviews online because I know it hurts the business, so me taking this step should tell you how bad the...
Read moreThe most negative thing I can say about Nonna Gina is that they only take cash.
Nonna Gina is a cute small restaurant found in the medieval looking streets of Cesky Krumlov. The outside is a cute unassuming restaurant front. Downstairs you have the kitchen and a gorgeous staircase up to the dining area. The restaurant seating is small so coming early or making a reservation is a great idea.
The food here was top notch Italian food. The pizza tasted fresh and was authentic. The pasta was equally amazing. Prices are fair, albeit in cash. I do wish they had some different beers on tap as there is something inherently wrong with drinking Budweiser in one of the beer capitals of the world.
Overall, NG is really top notch and one of the better meals I had in weeks of eating out throughout...
