This pension is adorable. However, do not let the outside looks fool you. First, the service all around is horrible. They have a do not bother me stance from the moment you walk in the door. Not friendly at all!!! The cook/chef has an insane attitude problem and is well known among my group as having an evil death stare. ||||The rooms were nicely decorated. Again, do not let the decor fool you. Towels were provided but it was like drying your body with sandpaper. Toiletries such as a small bar of soap are not provided. Also, you would think toilet paper was a highly traded commodity. Sparesly stocked. ||It was sweltering hot. Without A/C one would think they would be able to provide you with a fan. Not the case. Not willing to accommodate the guest at all. Staff could not even tell you where to purchase one. I finally found an electronics store and purchased one for approximately 21 USD. I took it with me. ||||Others in my group had a room without electricity and were given a candle but not any matches. Also, Internet in their room would not work. Again, staff did not seem to care. ||||The area has plenty of other pensions and hotels in the area. I would surely not stay here again. I would look for another place to stay. Danny, the owner needs to...
Read moreI really enjoyed this guest house, but my partner not so much! I found the property to have real character and great charm - the decor (mostly antiques from the region) was beautiful. Even the rooms themselves were unique - our room was very big and in an attic, with roof beams above the bed and little stairs between levels of the room. I would stay here again just for the decor and quirkiness. ||||The property is well located at the entrance to the town and just around the corner from the castle and many coffee shops. The owner is very friendly and the WIFI great.||||However, there is no lift and the stairs are uneven and not well lit, so carrying luggage can be awkward. There is no aircon and the windows are a bit small, but the high ceiling kept the room cool. The water pressure was not great and the TV (if you really want to watch on holiday) is very small. ||||The double bed is just 2 singles pushed together and they used flannel sheets in summer. Pillows are very flat||||Breakfast was not great and was just ingredients from the supermarket across the road. This was a pity as the hotel has a kitchen for its restaurant - the restaurant itself was really great and we enjoyed 2 very tasty meals there, so it was sad that breakfast wasn't...
Read moreThe Pension Danny is located just as you enter Cesky Kumlov, but is still a bit difficult to find in a car. I'll blame my GPS for that as it clearly was not comfortable here. But, on foot, I found it quickly. The receptionist, who I believe was trying to be helpful, did not provide particularly clear instructions on where to park. Fortunately, the Tourist Office in town was able to. The place is fairly interesting. My room was right above the bar/restaurant. You go up a short flight of stairs than enter a sometimes locked alcove, which was dark until I found the light, and within the alcove were about three rooms, including mine. The room was good sized, clean and comfortable. The furnishing were perhaps a bit dated, but still functional and quite adequate. Overall, I liked the place, and it was priced reasonably. My room overlooked a flower shop. Views were ok, my room overlooked the street. It's also next to a tattoo parlor, if you're into that kind of thing. They do not take credit cards, but were clear about that even when making reservations so it was not a surprise. Convenient to the town and the breakfast was good too. I felt it was...
