The hotel offers check-in at 2:00 pm, which is earlier than the typical 3:00 check-in. However, most hotels will allow for early check-in if the room is ready and available. We arrived for check-in at 1:15pm, only 45 minutes early. The front desk person told us check-in was not until 2:00 and did not even bother to see if our room was ready. When we asked about leaving our luggage, we were directed to just leave it by the wall. The attitude of the front desk person left a bad taste. We went to lunch, came back an hour later and was able to check-in. When we went to our room and got off the elevator, the hallway lights were all off. Once the elevator door closed, it was very dark until we used the light on our cellphones to find our room. This could be dangerous, wandering around in the dark in a new place. We let the front desk know and they did remedy the situation, but after we had to inform her twice. The room itself was spacious as well as the bathroom. The bathroom has a bathtub and a handheld shower head. However, there is no curtain or door to prevent water from splashing everywhere if you try to stand up and take a shower. The holder for the handpiece was also low so you had to hold the hand piece up high if you wanted to shower. This is very inconvenient, especially for washing and rinsing hair. The bathrooms seem like they have been updated recently but they did not think about making it easy to shower, despite the bathroom size being double the typically hotel bathroom for Europe. Everything seemed newer but cheap. The curtains for the windows do not block out light. The carpet was thin and hard. The wi-fi in the room we were in had low signal but was better if we were by the door to the room. Make sure to request a room on a higher floor, we were on the 2nd floor and it seemed easy for people to look into the windows into the room. Breakfast is included and the breakfast is overall good. In the end, I expected more from a 4 star hotel. I will likely look for another place to stay if I return to...

Read more1 night stay in January 2019, booked through a Top Deck tour. The hotel is in a beautiful old medieval Czech town and walking distance to everything. I have no idea how you get to the hotel by road. We were dropped off on a main road and walked down a steep flight of stairs into a cobble stone courtyard where the hotel can be found.||||Our room was located on an upper floor with a view of the castle and the river. It was quite large but we found the bed lumpy. Unfortunately, our shower was unusable. It had no shower curtain/door, so water went everywhere, but also the handheld shower head could not detach from the mounting on the wall, which was at waist height. Luckily it was only a one night stay.||||Upon checking in we were required to hand over our passports and did not have them returned for some hours. It is a mildly concerning practice but apparently common in the Czech Republic. Reception did not speak much...
