We arrived in Cesky Krumlov as it was getting dark. We had a reservation at a different pension located up the hill on the edge of town. Unfortunately, when we arrived there the homeowner did not have a room for us. We we unfamiliar with the town and found ourselves standing in the middle of the dark street with no room. Luckily we remembered the name Pension Faber from our Tripadvisor research. We telephoned Pension Faber and were told by the young man who answered the phone that he would meet us at the front door of Pension Faber in 10 minutes, and he did!! Furthermore, he charged us a very fair rate and checked us in immediately. Our room was large, immaculate, and comfortable. Best yet, the room was located right in the middle of Cesky Krumlov (far better than the location of the original pension). Pension Faber...the professionalism of this young man, the quality accommodations, and the outstanding location...all worked together to make our two day stay in Cesky Krumlov very enjoyable. So if you are staying in Cesky Krumlov, save yourself some time and research...simply book a room at the Pension Faber. ||||HELPFUL INFORMATION:||We paid for our room in cash. I do not know if that is required, but I do feel it was appreciated. ||||We stayed 2 nights in Cesky Krumlov. We feel a 2 to 3 night stay would allow you sufficient time to explore the town.||||Several lovely shops are located just steps from the front door of Pension Faber.||||Pension Faber provides you with a 10% discount coupon for a cafe located a short distance outside the front door. We did not choose to eat there, so are unable to comment on its food and service. We did eat several times at Deli 99. To get to Deli 99, exit Pension Faber turn left and walk on the same side of the street for about 10 minutes. The owner of Deli 99 is charming and hard working. Both the food and service at Deli 99 were...
Read moreMy stay at Pansion Faber was a real mixed bag, but it definitely wasn't boring. If you're looking for a clean, incredibly central place and love the idea of a fully automated check-in, you'll find a lot to like here.
Let's start with the good stuff, because it is genuinely good. The place is spotless and the location is unbeatable—you're right in the heart of everything. The automated check-in via codes and keypads felt sleek and modern.
That is, until I discovered the future has a bug in its payment system. My booking was set to "pay at the property," but there was one small problem: there is no one on the property to pay. No staff, just me and my phone. I couldn't pay when I arrived, I couldn't pay when I left, and the app provided no option. I was genuinely trying to give them my money, but the system made it impossible.
This is where things got tricky. The manager called me, quite upset that I hadn't paid. I tried to explain the catch-22 situation, but she talked over me, convinced I was at fault. It was a frustrating back-and-forth until she finally understood the issue. After checking with Booking.com, she simply asked for my email to send an invoice—a solution that took minutes once we could actually communicate.
In summary: You get a great, clean room in a perfect location. Just be prepared for a fully automated process that, if it glitches, leads to a very difficult and frustrating customer service experience. A little more human help would make this...
Read moreWhat made our Cesky Krumlov experience more exceptional was the Pension Faber where we stayed. Location excellent, you virtually rolled out of the front entrance into a beautiful historic street in the centre of Old town.||Abundance of cafes, restaurants and shops to choose from, walking around cobblestone streets and the river.||You need to be aware that it is not attended by the host all the time so they provide a contact number if they are not in attendance. They are only about 5 min away.||We stayed in apartment 4 initially for 2 nights, was clean, comfortable and private and view from window to a small courtyard. Decided to extend another 2 nights as apartment 1 was available, stunning view over cobblestone street, larger room, it was delightful.
