Great selection of beer from all over Europe... Both bottled and draft. Particularly good selection of Belgium, Danish, and of course Czech beers during my visit.
That said, I feel like this is more of a beer-tourist pub than a quality craft beer place. I'm not sure about employee turnover, but the bartender I had didn't know the name of the beer I ordered (very popular Czech made IPA, and had to look over his shoulder at the display for what was on tap a couple of times to punch it. I also waited at the bar for 10 or 15 minutes before getting up and walking to another part of the bar to put in my order. No big deal really...but it wasn't crazy busy before 6pm on a weekday. I also had to steal a coaster from a nearby table for my pint...so that was awkward.
Standard fare for an American-style bar (wings, fries, carrots and celery to accompany the aforementioned; quesadillas, a couple sandwiches, and various snack nuts). That said, I had to "peel apart" the menu to discover the eats because it was literally stuck together with a previous customer's chewing gum haha! I mean, who does that?
If you're looking for craft beer and you're anywhere near JZP, I'd recommend checking it out. It's a neat, subterranean beer spot with lots of beer-themed "art". I find the wider selection, service, and crowd at places like Bad Flash more inviting and less theme-park-touristy than the Beerplebees feeling I get here, but to each their own. In fact, even the middle-of-tourist-center U Kunštátů in Old Town Prague feels more authentic. Weird.
It was on my list and I'm glad I got to Czech it out. The highlight was the keg urinals in the men's room. That was kinda hilarious--though reinforces the over-the-top theme park feeling. It's like a craft beer bar that wants to celebrate "craft beer bars" vs a craft beer bar wanting to...
Read moreNice spring evening and hankering for a beer. We saw this really nice Beergeek logo outside and tought to give it a go. First thing that you notice when walking in is that there is no smoke inside at all. Halleluja for that.
Next thing you notice when walking downstairs is that place have nice simple design on its walls and furniture. Customers seems to have littlebit hipster vibe but I came to taste beer, not to watch them. And what a glorious selection of beers they have! Whole stock is nicely presented behind the glass when you walk deeper inside the bar but on the counter they made it easier for you. Huge selection is presented on screens including logos if you have problems to remember the name.
Music was nice and you were able to talk over it whitout shouting. Toilets earn extra points cause urinals were made from beerkegs and looked great. Too bad that toilets were bit unclean but I understand that they cannot clean it every hour when drunken people don't know how to behave.
They had small selection of whiskeys and even couple really nice rums. That's why I had to play anarchy card and have also one rum in Beergeek.
Definitely worth to...
Read moreWe came to the BeerGeek Bar yesterday because they had beer, cheese plate and bread on their menu.
We needed first to ask the waitress after we had been standing near the bar for some minutes if we should find on our own or if we should wait until someone follows us to the table. Looked rude and just pointed that we could find a table on our own.
We looked at the menu, and we vaited for almost 20 min before someone came to the table. It almost looked like the waitress ignored us. We orded, but the waitress said to us that they didnt had the cheese plate, but everything else. We orded therefore some quesadillas. The food was quite good and the beer was amazing.
We suddenly saw after we almost had eated up everything from the plate, that the neighbor table who had orded after us got their food. I got so frustrated, because it was cheese plate...!
The beer was exemplary, but the waitress should go to the mirror to practice how to smile and also maybe chech what they have, before they assume what they have and dont have on...
