I am very impressed with this restaurant! Masala provides wonderful Indian food, great service, and an awesome atmosphere, and also has great prices for what you get! We came in for lunch (but we asked for their full menu…they give you the business lunch menu by default though they can still serve you the full menu) and got a wide variety of different things: aam panna (Indian mango lemonade), rose lassi, aloo papdi chaat dilli ki, kheema pav, Hyderabadi chicken korma, lamb rara, mutter pulao rice, garlic cheese naan, Peshawar naan, and boondi raita as well as pomegranate raita as dips for our food. The drinks were very nice and super flavorful, appetizers were wonderful (the kheema pav was much better than any I’ve had before), both naan breads and rice were incredible and highly recommended, and the lamb rara was one of the best lamb dishes we’ve ever had!
The only thing we didn’t like too much was the Hyderabadi chicken korma - in our opinion, it was too sweet and it just didn’t suit our taste buds. However, we can’t fault the restaurant because I’m sure it was prepared very well and exactly how it is from Hyderabad. It just wouldn’t be something we would order. If you like sweeter dishes though, I’m sure you’d really enjoy it. I still 100% recommend this restaurant though - from the aloo papdi chaat dilli ki to the lamb rara to the garlic cheese naan, everything was extremely flavorful, prepared super well, and definitely showcased India’s cuisine in the best possible light! Read moreThe ambience set the tone for a much more exciting experience than we had. Service was very dry. Take order. Bring food. Put it down. Clear table. Take money. Bye. The thali was really a tiny portion—granted the price is not high, but really? (It’s hard to tell from the photo, which makes the portions seem reasonable, but there were three very small cut pieces of chicken swimming in an overly sweet, mild curry, and the other two dishes were about 2&1/2” in diameter, filled 1/3, at best. We were first to arrive—perhaps a mistake because as I viewed other thali coming out of the kitchen the portions seemed larger and enhanced with vegetables that were not evident in my chicken thali.
It wasn’t clear from the menu that there was no choice of chicken type so when I asked for chicken tikka masala I was given a very disapproving look, and a curt, “thali doesn’t come with that” retort. No “sorry” or any such remark.
My feeling is that this place gets really high ratings by people impressed with the ambience, which is...

Positives: Delicious Food: The starters were enjoyable, with onion bajis for my partner and a samosa for myself. Both were well-prepared and flavorful. The main course curries were equally impressive, particularly the lamb dish, which showcased high-quality meat. Excellent Value: The overall price for the meal was very reasonable. Lovely Flavors: The food was packed with flavor and expertly seasoned, making each bite a delightful experience.
Negatives: Slow Service: Unfortunately, the service was quite slow, which detracted from the overall dining experience. Cold Environment: Our visit took place in December, and the restaurant felt rather cold, making it less comfortable than it could have been.
Overall: Despite the slow service and chilly ambiance, Masala Restaurant offers a positive dining experience with delicious food at a great price.
