Our evening at Alma was, in a word, exceptional. From the moment we entered, we were attended to by a team of knowledgeable and hospitable staff, setting the stage for a truly unforgettable dining experience.
Instead of opting for the mains, we decided to try the small plates menu, which proved to be a decision we'd cherish:
🥩 Beef Tartare, an artful assembly of flavors with mushroom emulsion, aronia's tartness, crispy pork cracklings, and toasted bread.
❤️ Duck Hearts, graced by the presence of Mangalica lardo, a delectable chicken glaze, subtle fennel, shallots, and an apricot ketchup that added an intriguing twist.
🍅 Langos, an exquisite creation featuring tomatoes, velvety stracciatella, a drizzle of parsley pesto, and a fragrant bouquet of wild herbs.
🦴 Marrowbone, adorned with an herbaceous crumble, the nuttiness of black nuts, the sweetness of currants, fresh herbs, and that perfectly toasted bread, again.
The culinary journey was beautifully complemented by the selection of local natural wines from Milan Nestarec and Jaroslav Springer, adding depth and character to each dish.

Neroni sbagliato cocktail - was quite nice and light with a bit of herbal and citrus aromas.
Pear 75 - the more interesting cocktail of the two in my opinion, with deep pear flavours and a bit of sparkle.
Smoked mackerel with pumpkin juice - very well balanced dish with deliciously fatty, salty smoked mackerel combined with the light sweetness of pumpkin juice and mild acidity of blueberries.
Marrowbone - another great starter, a great usage of the fat of the marrow with all the other ingredients to make something that didn't feel heavy.
Pink oyster mushrooms - highly recommend this dish - it was a perfectly grilled mushroom with a light creamy sauce, and paired perfectly with the Slovakian white wine recommendation on the menu.
Pork neck schnitzel - a modern take on the schnitzel. Juicy, tender but firm schnitzel with a light batter topped with pickles, black trumpet mushrooms and others for a variety of textures and flavours, rounded off with a light brown butter sauce.
Side dishes - potato rösti with capers and mayo - very tasty. Curly kale with sunflower seeds and garlic oil was also nice addition to the meal.
Daily sorbet with whey - simple but still interesting and with some depth! It was more firm and creamy than usual sorbets I've had but not...
