My first hostel experience and the best one I would say.
I was all clueless about how the hostel works and how the experience would be as we don't have the hostel culture in India.
Hostel downtown in Prague is the best option to stay at , it is quite reasonable and most importantly, all the major attractions are within walking distance. Place had an easy check-in process, common items like towel, adapters, etc are available on deposit basis. We stayed in a room for 4 people, 4 single beds with a small cupboard next to each bed where you can keep in your clothes with valuable items and lock it too (get your own locks).
Room isn't really painted but the walls are splashed with colours and a few plain glass frames. Beds are really comfortable but unfortunately they just had one standing fan between 4 people in a room, I think they need to increase the quantity of the fans in a room according to the people.
Hostel downtown even has a fully equippep kitchen where you can cook for yourself if needed and also they have a 5€ breakfast option. We had it once unfortunately they didnt have much option in vegetarian but the people here are so good that they made us some separate vegetarian food right away. In breakfast one can have:- Bread and butter Juice (orange/apple) Cakes Cereals with milk (2 options) Beans Milk/coffee Fruits All for just 5€ which is totally worth the price. Hostel downtown even has their own weekly plans lined up for everyday. Some are free and some are chargeable depending on which activity you choose. We saw a puppet show performed by a person who works there and it was hilarious. One thing which is a must try at such hostels is the bar crawl. It is the best way to enjoy the whole night and to meet new people.
Their washrooms are decent, clean and comfortable to use. They have a chill zone area inside their dinning area which is pretty cozy and they even have a currency exchange machine with a decent rate.
Hostel downtown was a fabulous experience for my friends and me and I would insist other to stay here as well.

Read moreWe had a private room for three people, and it was bleak and depressing (no murals like the photos on their website!), with one small window looking into an air shaft.
There was no housekeeping service. When I asked about it (on day 3 of our visit) at the front desk, I was told I had to request it. I said that would be great, as we were out of toilet paper and our garbage was overflowing. So the guy at the desk offered me toilet paper. I repeated that I would like housekeeping service. We were there TEN DAYS and someone came in ONCE to take out our garbage. We had to go pick up toilet paper ourselves periodically from the front desk.
The beds were uncomfortable - you could feel the wooden slats underneath. And the pillows were lumpy (but large). The lighting in the room was inadequate - all the worse because there wasn't much natural light. The towels that you pay a ten euro deposit (each) to use were threadbare and unpleasant. Bring your own towels.
Also, beware the taxi service to and from the airport. The driver (who didn't speak English) was half an hour late picking us up when we arrived in Prague. And then he dropped us off in a parking lot when we returned to the airport. It was a 10 minute walk to our terminal, in the pouring rain.
Having said that, the staff at the front desk were very pleasant and quite helpful (apart from the guy who didn't seem to know what maid service was). I'd give the staff (other than housekeeping!) five stars. And the location is great, as well.
So who knows - maybe you'll like this place if you don't get room #607. One last thing - we never ate breakfast there. It looked pitiful. CP1 Cafe around the...
Read moreFor this price, it's reasonably ok to accommodate here. The rooms, restrooms and baths were clear. We stayed in a 10 people dorm with 9 people with shared restrooms.
The staff is super friendly and helpful.
There is also a lounge where you can spend time with your friends or make new friends. The only problem i should mention was the breakfast and kitchen.
Breakfast was 5 euro but there were almost nothing to eat except for some packaged butter chese and piece of toast bread. (Later on, the receptionist cook us scrambled egg which was super nice and kind act) Moreover, they ask you to clean your dishes. Oh please. I am totally fine with cleaning my own dishes. But i can't trust other people if they clean theirs properly. So how am I going to eat on those plates with those forks that are cleaned by the tenants. This part should have been definitely taken care by the hostel itself especially during these COVID times...
Overall, it's a good hostel with a great location near old town with reasonable...
