I recently spent one night at Eurostars Thalia and had a mixed experience overall.
Welcome & Amenities The stay began on a positive note with a warm welcome at the reception, where complimentary lemonade and cookies were provided—a very nice gesture by the hotel. The room was clean and equipped with a good selection of amenities, including a shower cap, comb, cotton pads, and ear swabs. The bathroom offered a variety of toiletries such as liquid soap, body lotion, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner. Hotel slippers were also provided, but there were no bathrobes available, which was a bit disappointing. The room also featured a minibar, air conditioning, a television, tea, instant coffee, and free WiFi—all of which were appreciated.
Comfort & Noise Unfortunately, the room had a few issues that impacted comfort. The pull-out sofa was uncomfortable, as it sagged significantly, making it difficult to relax. The curtains in the room could not be closed at all, leaving the room bright throughout the night due to neon signs and streetlights from outside. This, combined with noticeable street noise, made it challenging to get a good night’s sleep.
Parking & Service A significant drawback was the lack of available parking at the hotel, as all spaces were occupied. Guests are directed to use a parking lot near the theater, which is close to the hotel but still less convenient.
Customer Service I had requested a baby cot when making the reservation. Upon check-in, I asked the receptionist if it had been prepared in the room. The response was unsatisfactory—he mentioned that it should be there if requested, but he wasn’t sure as my reservation might not have included this request. Unfortunately, the cot was not in the room. Although we managed without it, I was disappointed by the receptionist’s lack of attention to this detail. He should have verified this information beforehand, rather than leaving it to the guest to discover.
Breakfast The breakfast, priced at 13 euros per person, was fairly good, with a nice variety of fresh fruits being a highlight.
Conclusion While Eurostars Thalia offers a welcoming atmosphere and several amenities, the issues with room comfort, inadequate curtains, street noise, and parking availability detract from the overall experience. Improved attention to customer service and detail would greatly enhance...
Read moreI stayed at the hotel on 23rd December to spend a before Xmas night in Prague with my friend and I chose Eurostar Thalia as the hotel to stay. Some people might think the hotel is just for sleeping and we shouldn't invest for the comfort. I totally disagree... As it is only for sleeping, but it can make the stay and travelling much enjoyable... The Eurostar Thalia is the proof. We made check - in, at the reception there were a very nice lady called Patricia with her collegue Daniel. They both welcomed us very warmly. They both satisfied us concerning the request about some room preferences. The room was just nothing but perfect. There was a welcome gift - very delicious red wine and some chocolates (that I payed extra) and they were very well chosen. The bed was comfortable and the air-conditioner worked even the window had been opened (which is very rare in the hotels)... I do not know about some other rooms but our room 407 (deluxe one)has a very beautiful view on the Prague Castle. Everything was so clean and especially what I really loved was the soap in the bathroom. A japanesse one for the hand and the others HERBS FROM IBIZA for the body and hair. Without any hesitations I must say that I have never experienced such a great and lovely parfume smell as from "HERBS FROM IBIZA" shower gel and shampoo... Very strong point for the hotel as I am still thinking of the beautiful hotel with friendly stuff and especially the best parfumed shower gel and shampoo. The breakfast was much more variated as I had expected. The check-out was quick... Also friendly receptionist called Alex. I guess all these guys come from Spain (as it is a Spanish group of the hotels... ). I highly recommend the hotel and I am sure that next time I will choose...
Read moreLong story short. The receptionist Luis called the police on me to get me out of the room at midnight. Frankly, I thought he was bluffing 😂. Luis demanded I show them evidence for covid. This information isn't shown anywhere on their website or the portal where we booked the stay. So upon arrival, you're faced with a nasty surprise.
The silly czech decree is written to sound like they (receptionists) have the right, but they don't. They legally cannot ask for anyone's health information or evidence of such (only certain state officers can) and would have refused my stay on the basis of a health condition, which without the country being in the state of emergency, is against the constitution. What he did was discrimination on the basis of health condition. I told him I complied with the govt decree, which I did as I'm vaccinated. He cannot demand me to show him anything as he is not a person with designated authority in such affairs. All such places know this and nobody ever asked me this. Luis is a man who likes rules and didn't believe me, sadly wasted precious police time (to those guys I showed the evidence who could only confirm to Luis what I already told him). Please train your staff for such perils as you can easily end up with a lawsuit.
Also, Luis was very keen on my covid status, but upon taking my ID and copying it when checking in, he never bothered to verify if the ID is even mine (didn't ask me to remove the mask). Anyways, Luis and the hotel, I hope you get better at your job and don't believe all BS the government tells you.
P.S. when you get mugged you won't see the police as quick, so you best call them with some BS like this, they showed up in...
